Crowd gathers to watch rehearsal for late king's procession

People have been gathering since early on Saturday morning on Ratchadamnoen Avenue sidewalks to watch a rehearsal of the royal procession for His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The rehearsal began at 8am and is expected to be finished at 1pm on Saturday.

The space of sidewalks was occupied all the way to the front of the Supreme Court.

Teams of doctors and nurses were on standby.

Most people also carried a portrait of King Bhumibol.

This is going to be such an emotional day for the Thai people, I actually feel very sorry for them.

Me and the Mrs watched a news broadcast from a rehearsal earlier, I tried to relate to her how I felt lining a route in London for a visiting dignitary, it didn't matter if it was boiling hot, raining, snowing, freezing cold, whatever, you practised, and stood in the same place for hours on end, no comfort breaks (at all) and do not faint, I think one I did was for a visiting African leader but I'm not sure,  feel sure that some old pals will put me right.
