67baht for a 99km fare? Might want to check your numbers again.

Why in the world would it be anything wrong about that?

The only question is how the 20 and 30 seaters is going to lower the accident statistics? Does this buses have a superpower buildt in that makes better drivers out of the ones that drive them?
Maybe they calculate on the number of accidents. That will off course be lower, just because the amount of cars is approx. devided with 2. :cheesy:
More people are surly going to die in every accident, though. To figure that out, nobody needs to employ a rocket scientist.

In Thai script on the side it says Krungthep (Bangkok) to Ratchaburi and has (in phonetics) Nang 20 (Sitting passengers)  Dooan  (Standing)- nil passengers. The rest is unreadable ?

The Baht busses in Pattaya has in Thai script 11 sitting on the side and nil standing. But everyone knows you can get 18 jammed in any old way.
I notice this only on older vehicles now - newer ones don't have it on the rear body work. The 11 is actually for 5 on each side and one in the passenger seat in the cab.
Never happened.

People who can pay that extra fare generally own cars, or they're tourists who are pretty much a captive market.

And it's not the badge on the vehicle that's ruining their reputation.  It's the kamikaze drivers.  Otherwise, the Toyota's they're running now would be safe.

If 2 buses make a frontal collision, one is the MB and the other is that playmobil bus...in which one would you like to sit??? Is that worth the 10? baht extra?

3 pages in and no comment about who rides the "short bus"

The Americans and Canadians will get this

My answer is irrelevant.  I'm not their target demographic. And it would be more than 10 baht...

Aisle seat on the right. That looks like a seat to me.

Chertchai Sanansrisakhorn of the Department of Land Transport said that reaction to the changes had been slow

Well, the DLT's mandarins didn't order the change; in true Thai fashion, they 'requested' it. What else did they expect?

I would like to see the crash test results and especially what it looks like when it rolls over, it does not look very strong to me.

Along with no brains!

Why was there no space for luggage below the floor/seating area thus lowering the centre of gravity (which helps prevent them from tipping over)?

Oh, I forgot, safety is not a big concern (or safety is of no concern) :post-4641-1156693976:  Cretins.

If you want to bring your suitcase you'll have to pay another seat for it i assume.

Still i think Thailand needs those MB mini-coaches as well for the passengers who do care for safety. Like all the farang spread over the thai outback.

Maybe they can be like the Aussie Greyhound, just drive around the country daily, stop in each place once a day.

55555555 perhaps the author might check to se what the acronym ABS means. ABS means Anti-lock Braking System. And in the US has been mandatory on all vehicles for well over 20 years.

I went back to the photo and it appears there are black seat belts plainly visible in the rear seats and on the right side front aisle seat there seems to be part of a seat belt visible

67 Baht x 20 = 1,340 THB. Doesn't sound too bad for a drive of 60-80 minutes. If the bus is running on NGV (which costs next to nothing) and the driver is paid the usual 500 Baht a day there'd be still a nice profit to be made.

฿1,340 - ฿500 = ฿840. That’s before we talk about licensing, the initial costs of the buses, fuel costs, maintenance, (tires/brakes/hydraulics/etc).

I wish them good luck!

where are these vehicles made?

I bet in china, they look so underdeveloped. I guess it's the chassis of another vehicle on which they put a larger cabin.

Personally I would not be seen dead on one these items, come to think of it that might be the only way you see me...eekk!

I said the driver gets 500 Baht a day, not per ride. I guess the driver can do about 4-5 of these 99 km rides a day, so gets about 100 Baht per trip. Fuel would be less than 200 Baht on NGV per trip. Maintenance will be negligible in the first few years so with 4000-5000 Baht profit per day the bus should pay itself off rather quickly.

Just out of curiosity, what's the taxi fare for a 99 km ride? (Let's assume the wait-o-meter is turned off for this hypothetical.

Should still be 5.5 Baht per km for a Bangkok taxi, so about 550 Baht. But they probably won't use the meter as they can't get a return fare outside of Bangkok.

Why did they buy only 1 actually?

And why such a stupid chinese? one?

I would like to know how much fuel it uses and how long the engine will last...compare that to a new MB and we'll see again how cheap this thing was.

And when will BKK get new buses? It's almost a year since the openingparty of the other chinese crap-ones, and i guess nothing has been done yet...only loose more face.

Only problem is it will be the same d+++heads driving.:cheesy:

another problem is there will be more people on board when the driver crashes the thing.

The rear-axle is too much to the front so if it's fully loaded there won't be enough weight on the front-axle which leads to skidding in rainy conditions.

The thing also looks ridiculous cheap, why not buy good ones from Mercedes or Toyota or so?

You want to buy a Mercedes or Toyota? sorry mate, the money is with Yingluck. Yingluck said no, no, the money is not with me, ask mr chan ocha where is the money for buying Toyota. You must excuse me she said I am in a hurry to catch a flight I have an appointment with some friends in the Bahamas, after all life is for enjoyment she said. Put me in jail? Don't be ridiculous, When we get back in power we put you in jail she said while drinking her jack daniels under the coconut tree in the Bahamas. I don't like winter in France or Britain she said. Bahamas remind me of Thailand, warm weather, friendly people. I miss Thailand already she laughed her face looking haggard, a reflection of her evil heart finally show up on the face.

All that company's buses have seat belts, why do you say they have none?

And no mention of:

-  Additional / better driver training.

-  Additional requirements needed to get a license to drive a bus, etc.

-  Stronger punishment for driver transgressions, including very severe punishment for DUI, plus severe punishments for the bus owners.

-  GPS / other monitoring systems

-  Internal speed governing & recording devices.

etc

From the OP..."The new microbus is fitted with an ABS braking system and GPS tracking."

Why should the private bus company be talking about additional driver training, additional requirements to get a licence, harsher punishment for driving offences, all of which are beyond it's control?

Yes and with the backseats full of heavy farang it will do wheelies.Afbeeldingsresultaat voor mercedes mini coach

This looks much better to me!

Wheelies?  Nonsense, but you know that really, don't you?  How come you're not concerned about the one you pictured doing wheelies as it's rear overhang is just as long?  Just want to China-bash?

You do notice that the German bus has a much longer wheelbase than the Chinese knock off, don't you?
