Seen an advert in the Bangkok post recently for a 30 hour bus run for a Non O visa 8,000 Baht anyone been on it, leaves from Bangkok

Believe several firms are running trips to Laos now for visas. You have to qualify on your own but they take care of the logistics.

Take a look again , that particular company has withdrawn the ad for Run to Laos already.

Spoke to the 2 companies which are still doing the Trip to Laos and both prefer Tourist Visa applicants only .

You can not purchase a Visa .

Recently the Thai Consulates requested a Police Clearance Letter in case you apply for a Non B .
