Legal Strategies to Reduce Thai Tax
The point is that if there is a joint income, then the Thai tax dept might interpret a transfer to spouse from abroad as part of the joint income. Better to check with a tax expert. -

One Student Killed, One Critically Injured in Collision with Russian’s Maserati: Na Jomtien
They are not In Thailand, the requirement for foreign residents to obtain a Thai driving license in order to drive legally is not tied to a single specific law, but it falls under a combination of the Land Traffic Act B.E. 2522 (1979) and Royal Decree on Car and Motorcycle Registration. These laws regulate the operation of motor vehicles within Thailand and stipulate that drivers must have a valid license recognised by the authorities. Key points regarding the legal basis: Land Traffic Act B.E. 2522 (1979): This law governs road traffic rules in Thailand. It requires that anyone operating a motor vehicle must have a valid driving license. The act applies to all individuals, including foreigners. Department of Land Transport (DLT) Regulations: According to the DLT, foreign nationals residing in Thailand on long-term visas, including residence visas, work permits, or retirement visas, are required to obtain a Thai driving license. While the law allows tourists and short-term visitors to use an international driving permit (IDP) or a valid foreign driving license for up to 90 days, long-term residents must convert their foreign driving licenses or apply for a new Thai license after their stay exceeds this period. Although not explicitly mentioned in the Land Traffic Act, the interpretation by authorities and the Department of Land Transport (DLT) makes it clear that long-term residents must adhere to this regulation to avoid fines or legal complications. This requirement is based on the idea that only temporary visitors can drive on international permits, while long-term residents should have a locally recognised license. If you are residing in Thailand under a long-term visa, you are therefore required to obtain a Thai driving license to comply with these regulations. The reality is of course is that people are lazy and the police are lazy - so not much happens if caught without a Thai License while no a resident visa - but IF someone were to have an accident and the insurance company was looking for 'wiggle room'... this technicality could provide that. -

Are Older Men in Thailand Trading Love for Financial Ruin
Well, my wife paid off the house before we married. We live in a condo (I prefer condo life for convenience and security) and we rent because the drive to her work is relatively quick. I wanted to buy a condo many, many times in Bangkok because I do prefer to own for many reasons, including furnishing the place to my comfort and not having to sign annual rental agreements. However, every single time I look at the prices, I just can't justify buying it ( and I tried many, many times to justify it). The rent is just so incredibly cheap and landlords do actually take care of any issues you have with the unit. So we keep renting and renting. Now, if I was absolutely sure we would stay in Thailand until we die, then maybe I would buy. -

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
Air tickets, revisited: Buying a ticket out of Thailand to the US and paying with my foreign CC may or may not be a remittance, this has been discussed extensively, at least 3 times. So please don't start this discussion again. What if someone else, living abroad, pays with their foreign CC? I wouldn't even have to reimburse them, they owe me money. IIRC, this also has been discussed a long time ago, and the answer was, - in the UK, HMRS would consider this a remittance - in Thailand, probably too - this would effectively mean all tickets out of Thailand are taxed, and someone recommended to fly to a neighboring country first, and buying the long-haul ticket there Do I remember correctly? -

Why Are You Even Here? The Surprising Attitudes of Some Expats in Thailand
I really like Thai food. The culture is not that huge of an adjustment if one has had to adjust to different experiences in life. As far as Thai people, of all the people who are here from other countries I would rather be around Thais then many of them. Companionship and affordability are huge. Actually, I do not think the weather or air here are that great several western countries are much better in that area. -

Why do you mix with theses types - you obviously must, to know them so well, even to the point of knowing that they think Thais are plotting against them.- 1
