Work permit on Non O visa? - extension WP and visa

Recommended Posts

I have 3 questions for work permit on Non O visa and extension of Work Permit and visa.

I have:
Non O Visa, multiple, base on marrige.
Visa valid for entry until mid 2018.
Right now on 2 month extension of last entrance. Expires in november.

1. Work permit.

I understand that I can get a work permit on the Non O Visa. Right?

How long time will the work permit be valid (job is ordinary job without timeframe).
1 year or until the visa ends or until the current stay ends?

Actual:
(all papers arranged and application handled be company.)

Got a WP, but only valid until “Admitted until” stamp in passport (end of 2 month extension in November). Bangkok Office.

The staff arranging the WP say they were told that I had to leave Thailand and then extend/renew the WP after return

- Not clear if I can return on the Non O and then extend WP.

- Not clear how long the extension of WP will be when enter on Non O.

Is there anyone here that can help?

2. Documents needed (for finances) for extension of Non O visa based on income from work. Is this here correct?

3 salary slips.
3 tax payment receipts from Revenue Department
More? (don’t have Por Ngor Dor 91 from last year)
How long time does it take from tax payment date until receipts can be issued at Revernue Department? Any experience?

3. Time to apply for extension:

Normally should be done within last 30 days of the 90 days given at arrival.

Due to travel with work I might never stay in Thailand 2 month each time to reach the last 30 days to apply in. This could also be an issue when extension of a 1 year extension comes up?

Any way to get around this?

Thanks in advance for all input.

1. Work permits are not tied to your permit to stay. You can get a one year work permit with only a 90 day entry from your visa.

2. Correct But if you were working last year you will need your tax return for last year.

3. You could get a re-entry permit to keep the 90 day entry valid so that you can apply for the one year extension during the last 30 days of the entry.

Thanks for you prompt and clear answer. Sounds promissing for possibilities.

OK, it is because I'm on 2 mth extension I only got a few weeks validity of WP.

Raise a few additional questions:

Re-entry:
Apply for 1 re-entry each time I leave or get a multi re-entry before the first time I leave?
(2-3 single re-entry cheaper than multiple)

Tax receipts:
For planning the time for application for visa ext. and when to pay for reentry permit:
Anyone have experience in how long it takes from salary payout/company payment of tax, until Revenue Department can issue receipt?
Maybe need to go for one more 90 days.

No it is not. They should of issued you a one year work permit.

That depend upon how many time you will leave during the 90 days.

If you are going to traveling all the time it might be best to keep using your non-o visa.

I had the same feeling. They has looked at the extension and didn't notice that the visa was still valid. Even company went there two times. First time they refused to issue WP at all.
Lets hope it will be better next time, with fresh 90 days stamp.
Anyhow thanks again.

  • 4 weeks later...

Just to follow up with the result.

Made a visa-run and got 90 days again on a Non O visa (not extension).

Company applied for extension/renewal of work permit based on the new entry stamp. (based on marriage)

Got 1 year work permit from the renewal date. Issued same day.

Thanks for your helpful advice Ubonjoe.

Good to hear it's all ok for you on the multi O. Something I always try to tell people to push for, politely of course.

Just keep in mind if for any reason your work finishes then your visa remains valid till use by/enter by date.

Ignore any comments by anyone who tells you it has to be cancelled along with your work permit.( only extensions based on work are. )

Worked on multi O's for years and always someone will tell you they must cancel it, keep your passport in your pocket, smile and walk away.
