Hi all - a friend has been to Chiang Mai immigration today to get a 30-day extension on a multi-entry tourist visa, which they got, but they were told by the officer there that there's a problem with the visa itself. The "Issued on" date is correct of August 2017 but the consulate in the UK put the wrong "Enter before" date on it, of February 2017 when it should have been February 2018. The officer told my friend they need to get this changed with the Thai Foreign Ministry - does anyone have any experience of doing this please?

It can be corrected at the department of consular affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok.

To do it they will contact the embassy or consulate that issued the visa to confirm the error.

Thanks ubonjoe, knew you'd be able to help with this. Does that require going to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok in person? The Chiang Mai immigration officer seemed to think it might be possible from Chiang Mai, they may have an office here etc.

He also said they should contact the Ministry to explain the problem first but I can't see any 'contact' links on the Ministry's website. Any suggestions please?

Thanks again ubonjoe, I'll contact them and see what they say. Otherwise it looks like a trip to Bangkok.

So much easier to check your dates when they are given huh?

Another member had a visa error corrected using that dept/service recently.  See here:

That won't help with the Chang Mai aspect of the question, but provides context and how the process works.
