The Provincial Police Region 2 launched a crime sweep operation prior to the Royal Cremation ceremonies and netted more than 200 suspects and a large stash of guns and drugs, Deputy Police Chief Pol General Chalermkiat Sriworakhan told a press conference in Chon Buri on Tuesday.

From October 20-24, police arrested 41 weapons suspects, 45 punters in 10 gambling cases and 130 suspects in 121 drug busts, which also involved the seizure of 97,269 “yaba” pills, 163.23 grams of crystal meth “ice”, three ecstasy tablets, one gram of ketamine and 1,123.4 grams of marijuana.

They also arrested 13 people who were wanted for other crimes, he added.

Those guns look like people preparing for some sort of not very minor conflict.

Will they be freed to attend their Technical College classes tomorrow?

Looks like the night market fare at Sa Kaeo

Is that a white bicycle pump gun in the right corner?  If it is, I could do with one when out cycling.

Thai idea of a "Pump Action" weapon?

the 13 people who are wanted for other crimes, were probably busted during the last big sweep, some month ago, and definetely released on bail.

It's always HUGE news when the lazy Buffoons in Brown get off their backsides and actually do their jobs though.

I like the bicycle pump silencer on display. Wouldn't dare shoot it though.

How many of the 200 were farangs?  I thought the farangs were the root cause of crime in Pattaya ... and the police of course.

good work!

Perkins, you are correct; most of those "guns" are junk.  They are far more dangerous to the ones firing than to those fired upon.

In the center of the pic, however, there are three scope mounted high powered rifles. These are NOT trivial. They can easily take out targets at long range.  Somebody wanted to play sniper!
