They've made it harder still

  • As of 15 August 2016, there are strict requirements regarding the issuance of Multiple Entry Non-Immigrant Visas, which will only be issued on a case by case basis. For further information, please contact us direct to discuss any such application.

Anyone know the requirements and how hard it is to get one? It would be a wasted trip if I can't as because of the fact I have a family dependant on me to provide for them and immigration want to see funds in the bank (likely 400k) I need to leave regularly to work! But they go and make it difficult to get a visa that allows you to do this very thing!

I did email them but thought to ask if anyone has experience in it.

New Zealand has no such restrictions according to their website.

I just find it astounding that there is no commonality on visa requirements at Thai consulates world wide.

How is that possible? Each consulate just makes up their own rules?

That appears to be the notice posted on the Brisbane honorary consulate's website.

You need to apply at the embassy in Canberra or the official consulate in Sydney for your visa.

You can find info here on the embassy website. http://canberra.thaiembassy.org/Home/visa

Perth has the same requirements as well.

OK,  so Canberra is more straight forward. I see the Thai embassy in nz is the same.

For what it's worth I did receive a reply from Perth and it seems if you can provide the employment requirements they will grant you one (I can't as I work freelance) so I am left with the slightly ambiguous "state your case" letter and hope for the best.  This may just mean show sufficient funds (I would show all bank accounts) or not. If not approved you've lost your $240 fee and a potentially wasted trip if you've flown in to apply like I would.

If you require a Multiple Entry visa due to the nature of your employment, the additional requirements include a letter from your employer with information advising your title, the nature of the "Fly in Fly out" position, your length of employment, and current salary.  Some financial information is also required. Typically this would be copies of your last 3 months pay advices and a copy of a current bank statement in your name.  These need to be provided when you submit your application.

If you require a Multiple Entry visa due to other reasons, these must be stated in a letter with your application.   In addition, financial information to demonstrate the ability to support yourself in Thailand would be required.

In August 2016 the Royal Thai Embassy advised that all applications for Multiple Entry Non Immigrant Visas had to be approved by the Embassy after being processed by the respective Consulate.  This may add a day or two to the normal 4 day visa processing time. This is why we suggest you apply 2 weeks before your travel date.

We contact visa applicants as soon as we are notified that their visas have been approved by the Embassy.

Sydney is the same since it is a official consulate.

That sounds like the requirement to get a multiple entry tourist visa.
