Cremation

Featured Replies

As I check the world news and Bangkok news, it is not clear to me what has happened.  Was the King's body actually cremated?  I read about the ceremonial urn, and the collection of ashes, but I don't see that there was an actual cremation?  Did that happen in a private venue and not in that ceremonial structure?

The coffin carrying the king was moved to the crematorium on Wednesday night in secret. The Urn is ceremonial and symbolic and did not contain any remains. The actual fire even though was burning sandalwood (coffin and cover for Urn) was not the fire that cremated the king...within the structure behind the curtain was a modern electric crematorium oven because a cremation got out of hand a few years back and they decided on the modern device for safety reasons.
