rojaron
I'm looking at health insurance options,I am married to a Thai and in this way I'm getting a 1 year extension of stay(that's what they call it I think),I also have a son who was born in Thailand.Does anyone know if it would be possible to get social security without having a work permit or a Thai company. And if not what would be the next best kind of insurance to get which is not too expensive but is reliable?,I have insurance at the moment but I have heard too many bad things about the company I am with.Thank you. Sheryl
No, not possible - unless your wife is a civil servant in which case you would be covered under her policy. Otherwise you have to be employed with a work permit and regular payroll deductions. There have been innumerable recent, detailed threads about health insurance so suggest you do a search both in this forum and the health forum. How expensive will depend much on your age, and also whether you accept a deductible or copay option.
