30 Day Visa on arrival 30 Day extension in Chiang Rai

Hello, 

Can anyone please advise me if I can get the 30 Day Visa on arrival extended for another 30 days here in Chiang Rai town or do I need to go to a border crossinf or Chiang Mai office?

Chang Rai has an immigration office, so no need to go to Chang Mai.

But I suspect you have a "visa exempt entry" (no charge when entering and 30-days given), most of which can be extended for 30 days at a local immigration office for 1900 Baht. 

 

Please provide your passport-country to verify you did not receive a visa-exempt entry by special bilateral agreement, as these do not allow for 30-day extensions (ex: Russia).  Only in this case would you need to do a border-run for a new entry to Thailand.

You can extend your 30 day visa exempt (not a visa of any kind) entry for 30 days at the office in Chiang Rai city.
