The last time I was there, it was mostly local Thai visitors and foreigners who were residing in Thailand. Very few tourists in the sense of people from overseas coming to visit the island back then, probably because there wasn't much there and the place was really small. At the time, most of the other overseas tourists who wanted an real island experience in Thailand would go to Samui, Phuket, Phi Phi, Koh Tao, etc...
