There is no problem giving descriptions of people that mention their ethnicity. I still hear crime reports in the UK where ethnicity is clearly read out.

the UK is still politically and economically part of Europe,

geographically it hasn't been part of Europe since about 6000BC,

whether its people consider themselves part of Europe? Well that debate has probably raged since the Romans poled up, and will probably continue to rage for ever!
