Hi,

We consider to settle in Prachin Buri. How is the expat life there ? Could you recommend us a nice area to live ? What are the good and bad things there ? Is there any good EP school for kids ?

Thanks a bunch for your help !

My wife is from Kabinburi (Prachin Buri province), so I've been there many times to visit her family. Hopefully someone who lives there can better answer your question, but from what I can tell from the times I've been there, is that there isn't much to do there. I certainly wouldn't want to live there.

There is a large industrial zone in Kabinburi, where I would think some expats work, but I can't say that I've ever seen another expat in Kabinburi, except at the hotel I've stayed in.

If you should want to visit to get more information, the Kantary Hotel in Kabinburi is a very nice hotel where many working expats stay. Although most of the expats there are Asian, I would think if you were able to chat up a few of the guests or hotel staff there, you could get some good advice. Good luck.

Hi 88 - since you are not getting many responses, thought I should add one even though I am not in Prachin buri... I do live in a less traveled province... and people have wondered how I could live in a small village... all Thai.

The simple answer is that most of my day is the same as other expats. I sleep in my own bed, wake up in my house, my coffee is there, my patio, my office - as a fair % of my time is spent at home, comfortably, as everyone else... my life is pleasant and leisurely, I take walks, I go into our nearby small city near every day as I pick up my niece at school, I wander Lotus and Big C - usually have a meal or two out, often with other expats, or Thai friends, get a foot massage at the local temple & there is always family time and eves at home...

I do enjoy an occasional trip to a larger city, which is easily done. I would say that one of the most important thing is to have good internet access as that brings so much into my home. Watching sports, movies, news, and being able to enjoy my morning coffee skyping w/a friend...

You will be not too far from Pattaya, Bkk, and the waterfalls of Nakhon Nayok and nature preserves at Khao yai..

I think I would have no problem living there. Hope this helps to give you an idea.

This is exactly how I see it. I am also moving to area soon, Thungpho. Very small village and I am building home there. Will live with inlaws until done. I will be working abroad and return when I can, then retire in few years. There are many places to visit within easy travel distance so for me it works well, quiet life with easy access. I will occasionally use airbnb to stay in BKK to do cycling on the velodrome there. It really depends on the individuals needs. Do you want a quieter life with few expats or do you want to be around lots of expats and be in a very busy area, in which case Pattaya may be better. I caould visit Pattaya for short periods and it is not far away but personally I could never live there. Obviously living somewhere like Prachin you would need to learn the language, I am trying to do that now.
