A research laboratory dedicated to preserving Angkor Wat’s Preah Pithu temples was unveiled yesterday under a $4 million project sponsored by the South Korean government. The Apsara Authority said the four-year preservation scheme was being funded by the Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation and the Korean International Cooperation Agency.

Project manager Kim Jiseo said the laboratory would carry out research and offer training for Apsara Authority officials. The construction of laboratory itself cost more than $1 million, he added.
