Shopping stimulus scheme kicks off today

The tax break shopping scheme or “Shop Chuay Chart” started today (Nov 11) as shoppers flocked to various supermarkets and department stores to buy and get receipts for deduction on their annual personal income tax.

But some shoppers reportedly lodged complaints with the Internal Trade Department (ITD) that traders have deliberately removed discount price tags of goods on shelves and put new price tags higher than the earlier price tags, indicating that they intended to exploit the state-promoted campaign to stimulate economy.

Complaints from the public immediately prompted the ITD to issue stern warning that any traders found to behave unethically by deliberately raising good prices would face legal actions.

Now who would have thought the honest traders of Thailand would do a thing like that.

I am reminded that the price of black cloth went through the roof after the late King Bhumibol died. Grasping parasites.

Unfortunately it is in their genes and there is no moralistic code in their make-up to compensate.

'Honest traders' what is this that you speak of? 'Morales'  im at a loss, whats the meaning?..maybe i've been here to long and my memory has faded. Help meeèeee????? (in before i get the TB tv tag, juz joshing, many not all)

What about the sufficiency economy scheme they just brought up a couple weeks ago?

Just because they waiver some small amount of tax doesn't mean people can afford to splurge on a glut of stuff.....only the sheep will just go out and spend now when they honestly can't afford to do it really. What they should be doing is putting up the interest rates so as to encourage people to save for the future.

Ridiculous!

And meanwhile people in Issan have been harvesting rice, drying it on the roads, and reaping the benefits of their welfare cards that give them 10 cans of fish and 3 kilo of soap powder a month

Waste of time and effort for both shops and customers because extra staff and time have to be allocated to prepare the invoices. Everyone paying income tax should be given this deduction as most people could easily spend 15k baht monthly.

I'll bet the soapy stimulus business is making a killing while all the wifeys are out shopping

Annual family keep-the-receipts-for-me-and-not-for-her politics between wife's sisters.
