A 35-year-old man from Krabi was rushed back to hospital after collapsing in a pool of blood outside a Pattaya convenience store on 2 August, having reportedly left medical treatment before his knife wound had been fully treated. The man, identified only as Sadayu, told rescuers he had been assaulted at Jomtien Beach earlier that evening. Police are investigating and plan to question him further once he is able to give a detailed account. Man found outside shop At about 10pm, the Sawang Boribun Thammasathan Pattaya rescue centre received a report that a seriously injured man was seeking help outside a convenience store at the entrance to Soi Chaloem Phrakiat 22, Pattaya. Rescuers coordinated with officers from Pattaya Police Station before attending the scene. A large number of local residents and tourists had gathered outside the shop. Sadayu was found lying on the ground in an exhausted condition, with a serious wound to his back caused by a sharp object. Blood was still seeping from the injury and he was breathing weakly, rescuers said. They found that the wound had received initial first aid before he reached the convenience store. Rescue workers controlled the bleeding and arranged for his urgent transfer to hospital, amid concerns that further blood loss could become life-threatening. He had left hospital before treatment was finished In a brief statement, Sadayu said he had been assaulted in the Jomtien Beach area before Pattaya officials took him to hospital. He did not provide further details about the cause of the attack or what happened beforehand. Rescue officials said they had established that he was attacked during the early evening at Jomtien Beach and had already been taken to hospital. However, he left the hospital while treatment of his injuries was still ongoing. He then walked towards the entrance to Soi Chaloem Phrakiat 22, where he lost strength and collapsed outside the shop. Passers-by spotted him and alerted the authorities. Police seek attacker and motive Pattaya police are examining the reported assault in the Jomtien Beach area and will conduct a fuller interview with the injured man. Investigators are seeking to establish the reason for the attack and identify the person responsible. Pictures courtesy of SiamChon Join the discussion? 3 August 2026
