The self-proclaimed Network for Lottery Reform and the Network for Non-Gambling New Generation on Tuesday called on the prime minister to resolve lottery overpricing decisively after their own survey at various places showed overpricing remaining rampant.

In the letter to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, they claimed that lottery ticket is still sold over the 80-baht controlled price at almost all places, including at Si Yaek Khokwua, the largest lottery market on Ratchadamnern road.

They said their survey at 28 lottery selling venues from November 4-12 showed that 89.9% of vendors selling at over 80 baht a ticket, while a batch of 15 tickets having same numbers are sold at 2,500 baht for a batch or equivalent to 167 baht for one ticket.

Back in May 2015 PM Prayut appointed one of his useless dullards Maj-General Apirat Kongsompong to fix lottery problems. He responded by declaring 10 special teams had been assigned to probe the problem of overpriced lottery tickets. Prayut even used his beloved Article 44 to fix the lottery ticket mess.

Fast forward to late 2017 and still the problem persists. Just another one of the many Prayut military government failures. They just can't seem to get anything right.

Seems even the non-gambling camp is outraged... probably because many among them are closet gamblers. It's a bit like those upstanding citizens who constantly extol the nation's chasteness while frequently visiting their neighborhood "massage" parlor under cover of night.

Damn. Fixing lottery price was on my top of the list of Prayut’s success. Now that’s off. Still have his success in limiting Lamyai’s twerks on my list.

My wife asked me to give a lottery seller a 20 baht tip one time.

Told her that I would, if we agreed that I'd keep 60% of prize money, rather than split 50/50

Took less than a nano-second for her reply.

She forked out the 20 baht, and I ate cold shoulder for 2 days 55555

How can you be sure the number of twerks is not creeping up while Prayut is pre-occupied trying to fix up the trail of disasters his ministers keep leaving behind.

I think he has probably delegated the job of monitoring her twerks to Steven. I have a feeling he would do a good job of that.

I thought that problem had been fixed a year or two ago... ?

You obviously not know about Lamyai and her twerks.

The price of lottery tickets are distorted because they go through 3 hands,

each taking a profit, until they reach the seller on the street, the whole lottery

system needs a top to bottom reorganization, they have tried to do this over

the years, but never achieve results,if you bought a product from a supermarket

that was priced at 80 THB,you would never accept paying 85-100 THB at the

check out.

In udon they are selling slimline tickets (one go) in place of the old double tickets. Still 80 baht. Anybody else seen this or is one entrepeneur running a one for the price of two scam ??

Removed a troll post.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

part of the lottery reform was to change the old double tickets to a single ticket.

true; leadership in thailand does such a poor job of priority-setting that you have to wonder if they know what that is or that it might be important

You forgot to mention the road fatalities

One wonders what miracles other countries had to perform to achieve what Thailand seems unable to achieve.

Of course, every time this story resurfaces, it is just a coded message for the vested and entrenched family interests that actually buy the tickets direct from the GLO and make billions every month as lottery ticket wholesalers to make a serious donation to the powers that be.
