Iranian woman arrested with forged passport

Immigration police have arrested an Iranian woman for using a fake passport to enter Thailand and try to travel to the United Kingdom.

Shirin Hossein, 29, was arrested at Suvarnabhumi International Airport when she arrived from Phuket on Monday. She had with her an onward flight ticket to the UK.

Police said that officers’ suspicions had been raised when Hossein used a UK passport in the name of Ms Charlotte L F to enter Thailand at Phuket on November 7.

After inquiries and communications with international agencies, it was confirmed that Hossein was using a stolen passport. She was therefore arrested as she landed at Suvarnabhumi Airport yesterday to transit before flying to the UK.

Investigators found that she had travelled from the Iranian capital, Tehran, and picked up the new passport somewhere in Europe. Police believe she paid about Bt100,000 for it.

Police have intensified their arrests of foreigners overstaying their visas and those who may be the security threats at the order of the government, fearing they could be involved in international or financial crimes.

What this picture needs is more people. Still, good to know there are at least seven officers for every overstayer or fake passport holder.

Should have picked a better name than Charlotte.

well done, 200,000 who should not be here and you caught one lady, and it would seem that those that were caught are still here via bribes, a thai would never do such a thing ha ha

Isn't the guy on the right of the picture the station car park attendant?

You guys are missing the point and should read the news articles more thoroughly before posting nonsense.  The lady was in transit to the UK.

The photo of the British and Iranian passports is quite a big giveaway for the mentally challenged.

I'll give you a clue - there are those that are opting for more unconventional routes to the UK.

Great photo but something is missing.

I seriously miss the finger point these days. A few years ago you couldn't escape it...it was always there.

Everyone was doing it, both the police and the villains and it was great, everyone enjoyed it. Now there's nothing.

Please bring back the finger point.

Yawn.

If they need a photo opportunity for doing a part of their job right then clearly there should be a lot more of these happening and the concerning thing is, they are not.

Well done for catching her.   good job

One more Criminal, Freeloader, Thief, Terrorist, on it's way to the Uk.

Yeah, right! What was it? 200 000 overstayers. Oh dear, time for the calculation.

200 000 x 7 officers = Easy to get away with free criminals without an overstay :cheesy:

I can ' t figure out how she got caught

Maybe you’re right!!! Or maybe she’s from an oppressive family/society where she’s not able to dress, say, do or be whatever the <deleted> she wants, and maybe she just yearns for the freedom you and I take for granted. Don’t be so quick to judge. Neither you or I know the facts. But as I said, you may be right.

Yeah. I can't figure out which one of them is Charlotte. They should point.

The days of the forged passport are over, at least as far as entering the country by air is concerned.

Might work at an out-of-the way land or sea entry if the electricity or communications are out.  Or a spot check/road block kind of thing.  Even Cambodia has electronic pp scanning, probably breaks the hearts of all the bureaucrats who think how nicely all that $$$ wasted on equipment would have looked in their bank accounts.
