Bang Saphan fans promise not to disrupt Toon’s run

By The Nation

Residents of Prachuap Khiri Khan’s Bang Saphan district, which Artiwara “Toon” Kongmalai will pass during his charity run, have promised not to disrupt the event by trying to stop the runner for selfies or hand him cash.

Sakarin Thumsen, chief of Bang Saphan – which was the destination of Toon’s first charity event last year – said residents would wait in an orderly fashion along the road when Toon runs through the district on Wednesday.

Sakarin said he would hold a meeting of volunteers on Monday to discuss ways to make it as convenient as possible for Toon.

The district chief said it is expected that 2,000 volunteers to come out to keep order during the run.

“We hereby affirm that Toon and his group will not be disrupted by selfie-taking and the handing out of cash, to make it safe for him,” Sakarin said.

In December last year, Toon ran 400 kilometres from Bangkok to Bang Saphan and raised Bt85 million in donations for the Bang Saphan Hospital.

Sakarin said the Prachuap Khiri Khan governor would also join the run in the second set on Wednesday.
