Two students killed, two injured in Roi Et crash

By The Nation

An 18-wheel trailer crashed into the rear of a pickup truck in Roi Et on Monday evening, killing two students, and injuring two other students and the two drivers.

Police said the accident happened at 5.30pm on the Roi Et-Phone Thong road in Ban Yangku village in Tambon Ma-uh in Tha Watchaburi district.

The pickup was being driven by Thanongsak Wiensima, 39, who is the janitor of Ban Yangku School. Four students were travelling with him.

Panthamit Noibat, 13, and Apatchaya Sithongdaen, 13, died at the scene. Two other students, Patipol Auayporn, 12, and Jarinporn Booppha, 14, were injured and rushed to the Roi Et hospital. The four students were travelling on the back of the pickup to return home after school.

Panyawat Bamphenpien, 23, the lorry truck driver, was slightly injured. Panyawat claimed his truck had a malfunction and suddenly accelerated to hit the pickup.

Such a waste of life  I would say speed and we are invinceable attitude may have something to do with it  Where not laws brought in to stop riding in the back of pick-ups? After those police finish getting there haircuts would it be to much to ask them to enforce the law ? Funny or am i wrong in thinking this way ? If a law is brought is it not the police force:sorry: job to make sure they are enforced ? Am i normal thinking that way?

Why would the Thai Police start to enforce laws now when they have not done this for years. It is so obvious that they are not capable of doing their jobs.

And the driver went to drink beers with his buddies, the police went to drink whiskey and see their giks, while the parents make funeral arrangements and hospital visits.  Meanwhile in the government offices, you just hear Meh, Duh, somebody shoud do something about that
