Hello! I'd like to obtain a visa transfer to a new passport ( I have the embassy letter addressed to Wattana Office), obtain a 30 day visa extension, and obtain an exit permit. Would I be able to do all that at the immigration office on South Sathorn Road (507 Soi Suanplu South Sathorn Road, Khwaeng Thung Maha Mek, Khet Sathon, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10120)? Or, do I have to go the Immigration Office at Chaeng Wattana? Thanks in advance!

First, just to clarify a few things ...

If, as I suspect, you have a 30-day visa exempt entry, there is really no need to go to immigration to have the entry stamp transferred. It can be done on departure from the country. Just allow a little extra time at the airport for getting that done.

Secondly, visas are never transferred. (If you have an existing unexpired visa, you need to carry both your old and new passports in order to use it.) What do need to be transferred are long-term extensions of stay issued at an immigration office in Thailand. The immigration office will also transfer entry stamps, and any re-entry permits that they originally issued.

I suspect he wants to get an extension on a tourist entry. Therefore, immigration will need to transfer the entry stamp from the old passport before issuing the extension in the new passport.

In retrospect, I think you are likely correct. Of course, the immigration office cannot issue an "exit permit".

I'm guessing he wants a stamp in the new passport that would enable him to exit which would be the transferred entry stamp.

That was my immediate reaction which led to my advice that he could just do it at the airport.

Thanks for your answers! Sorry please let me clarify. I (US citizen) was on the METV now ending 8th month and I got a new passport. I want an extension and I want to travel during that extension.

You could have your entry stamp transferred to the new passport and then get the 30 day extension of the 60 day entry in it at immigration.

If you apply for a re-entry permit it will only valid for the remaining days on the 60 day entry and the 30 day extension it will add no days.
