A video is doing the internet rounds that showed the Thai police and several members of the public help to take down a northern Thai man who had come to Bangkok after arguing with his wife and family.

The video showed the incident that took place 50 meters from the Phra Ratchawang police station late Sunday afternoon.

Chamnan Bunmark, 51, armed with sticks was making a nuisance of himself in the street as the cops and the public encircled him.

Whereas many police forces around the world might have used a taser in this case what appeared to be mobile traffic barrier was employed in the arrest.

No one was hurt and Chamnan was not even charged - the cops said he was stressed out after arguing with his wife and family in Lampang.

He had got on a train to Bangkok and slept out in front of the police station for one night, said Thai Rath.

The cops kindly took him to a center for the homeless in Din Daeng to await his relatives.

WOW that was poorly handled, he almost hit members of the public, and the non-human ones in brown clothes too.

Surely a simple.22 shot in the shoulder, just like in the movies!!!, would have worked 5555555555555555555

If it was Toronto he could have had a clip emptied into him in two separate volleys and somehow the officer only convicted of attempted murder, but no brown envelopes?

What about, police available, mace/pepper spray  that goes 30'

Short of that a taser with a range of ?

Then just kill him.   No mercy or care...

For the many cases like this guy and the druggy on the bus in Toronto waving a 3 inch knife, a 2 x 2 meter fish net would probably be more appropriate. It's just not as good an image as a tasering or a good beating, (if a suspect can't be legally shot in public).

In the U.S. they just shot a guy dead who was carrying a stick, and The guy was also deaf. Bystanders were yelling at the cops “He can’t hear you, he’s deaf!”

A perfectly credible slight mistake: "Police initially said Sanchez was carrying a stick, but Mathews described it Wednesday as a metal pipe."

Except I never heard of any with a throw away pipe before

Hmmm, agitate him first then take him down. Not sure which rule book that came from however it worked in its own style. :)

I like the way they allow traffic to filter past him. In UK they'd have closed the roads and probably all public transit inc airports for miles!

What the Thai police need here are Tazers. Not the items that we used to call "cattle prods" which you touch on someone and give you an electric shock, but the ones which fire darts and smash electricity HV into the blood stream! that'd fix him in seconds.
