Department of Airports enhancing airport service nationwide

BANGKOK, 28 November 2017 (NNT) - The Department of Airports (DOA) has fine-tuned its service under the theme "DOA for All" in response to diverse needs of passengers.

The DOA Director General, Darun Saengchai, said the department has been enhancing operations at all 29 airports nationwide to mark its 84th anniversary. He said the move will enhance the business competitiveness and the satisfaction of different passenger groups.

Mr. Darun said the DOA has been working proactively in line with its five-year strategic plan, from 2017 to 2021. The plan covers enhancing the aviation network, developing infrastructure and facilities to meet international and environmental standards, upgrading the administration system, ensuring good governance and effectively manage human resources.

Once the airport development project is completed, the airports in Thailand will be able to accommodate up to 30 million passengers a year in 2025 and up to 58 million people annually in 2035.

Perhaps the DOA joining with immigration would be useful in this venture, to reduce the never ending queues on arrival and departure at Suvarnabhumi ?

Further enhancement would be to join forces with the police and the taxi unions to cease the scams and arguments against tourists on arrival and departure, run by dishonest Bangkok cabbies, refusing the meter or trying to overcharge on the toll fares.

He could start by doing away with the unbelievably ridiculous monopoly taxi stand queue inside the terminal at Don Mueang airport, where departing passengers are forced to stand in often excruciatingly long lines just so the airport can collect subsidies from each departing passenger.  Not only that, the taxi-stand employees are the most unfriendly bunch I've run across here to date.  And I wonder where that money actually goes.  Greedy [expletives deleted]!!!

"DOA for All"

I do hope that doesn't mean "Dead on Arrival"!

They might want to think about doing something about the almost non-existent parking at UTH.  What was free parking, be it limited, is no longer. No issue with that if they did something to expand parking spots.  Parking in the grass, away from the terminal, leaves much to be desired.  Specially in the rainy season.

In all fairness. I entered the country and the immigration officer a young boy. Wrote a  departure date of 2010 instead of 2018.

Yep. Nail on head. Welcome to Thailand.

Opening the airport in Uttaradit would be a great help to the whole community instead of risking their lives using buses to travel the country . There has been so many accidents from bus drivers falling asleep at the wheel killing and maiming so many it has become a very unsafe way to get around and this includes the very many mini buses that also seem to crash very regularly .
