The pendulum has already swung. Thailand is the butt of jokes throughout the western world as it is. Thailand is a huge joke. However; these bombastic, incorrigible twerps that make up laws/rules to suit themselves and their friends are no more representative of Thai people than fat boy is of the starving Nth Ks.

To the people of Thailand I say; do not despair, you are not alone. The day will come when all people will rise up against greed and tyranny. One day the world will become a democratic place free from religion and indoctrination. Then Thai people you can trow off the shackles and live as nature intended.

Thailand is the butt of jokes throughout the western world as it is. Thailand is a huge joke.

do you have any evidence to support this statement? certainly it is not true in the uk where thailand is not treated as a joke in the media and in the population as a whole the only opinion the vast majority of people have of thailand is as a holiday destination.

Oh yes it is. Ask anyone who has stayed in Thailand for any lenght of time. And the Red Bull fiasco does not help one bit.

Half the topics on this platform are about rediculous stuff. Miss Pinky, fag buts on the beach, mushroom pickers, Red Bull etc....

If one had stated an opinion, then no problem.
When one indicates complete ignorance of the facts of the matter, then one should not be surprised at being corrected. Nearly everybody else on the thread seemed to realize that these guys were gay. It was other posters. not me, who were slapping labels on them. I happen to support gay rights.
YOU are the only one making judgements here, bucko, and extremely poor ones at that.
Can you man up and admit that you missed a few points?
No, I rather doubt it.

Mmmm... so... in the interest of manning up, I just re read everything till reaching your post.

nothing at all about homosexuality.... or even outrightly gay or bigoted comments ( as I pointed out earlier, when noting you introduced homophobia), barring a post saying they were mr and mrs da Silva... nothing bigoted there, and no judgement given

then a one liner.... don’t drop the soap... O.M.G!

well... I would apologies for having missed something.... except that the above is such a trivial comment, as to not be worth labeling or apologizing for missing

that said, as usual, there are multiple hang em high comments, but these apply to anyone who has erred here, especially farangs who embarras farangs....,but still nothing worth a homophobic or bigot label, until you put words to it.... so my observation (vs opinion) stands

so then... my extremely poor judgement was what, exactly? (Or roughly, if you like, I don’t care... I won’t be judgey)...

Calling an obviously cisgender gay male couple Mr. and Mrs. is definitely a bigot move. Not extreme. More like stupid Archie Bunker level.

Don't drop the soap. Are you still in grade school or something?

I have got my fingers crossed for their early release, when hopefully they will have become suitable educated as to their future behaviour

I am surprised to say the least. Went out to move the cows to new grazing, came back and this <deleted> has got a kiss of life from somewhere. Two bums and a pile of old stones. Dear, dear, dear! Come on TVF members move on from this nonsense. Near 700 posts. Cricket!! Good grief!

Lol.... none of those where my comments, but rather....  the only two comments posted (that I could find), that led Ben to comment about homophobic and pigotted posts on the forum.

im disagreeing that they are.... and certainly that they aren’t worth ranting about, even if they do have some “color”

so JT.... I agree with you.... grade school level remarks, and far from extremely poor judgement on the posters behalf, let alone mine (lol... I expanded... you may not agree with anything I say ?)

That isnt true , in the case that we are talking about . the O.P. , most Thais are supportive of the American couples prosecution  , as are the majority of non Thais .

Very few people say that their behavior is acceptable and shouldnt be illegal

Very true but not with the help of their countries authorities surely. This Red Bull fiasco is sending out messages about Thailand. And on the whole they are correct.

Now I do have to qualify what I said earlier. In saying Thailand is a huge joke, I'm not talking about the impoverished people (who I live amongst) I refer, in the main, to the powers that run the place.

How would you know?! Done a survey have we? Most Thais wouldn't even know. My wife didn't 'til I told her.

OK, sorry if I didn't get who said those things. Those are examples of more mild homophobic idiocy related to this new story. We've seen much more vile and toxic examples as well.

TV really needs to have threads which are certified *Red bull guy free threads* where posters are not allowed to mention him , because nearly every thread, he gets a mention

I was curious to see a survey but of course here it would be mostly expats and tourists. I'm going to be optimistic about the crowd here, and hope that the MAJORITY at least would favor a more reasonable measured response such as only a fine and  a banning, as happened in a very similar case with two sisters in Cambodia.

Going by all the Thais who commented on line about the incident and also the westerners who commented on-line .

Of course , as your Wife didnt comment so she would not be included in my assessment

Please do not move the goal posts

We are not talking about which punishment they deserve , that is a different matter

We are talking about whether they should or should not be prosecuted .

Whether they should be allowed to do what they did , without any consequences , or whether they should face the law

And why not mention him; or those poor mushroom pickers? Fag-butts, Miss Pinky and YinShin escaping a dubious justice. Police and army blatantly murdering their people. Puts it all into perspective!

Well thanks for that sanemax she will be thrilled I'm sure. When I pointed the deed out to her, her comments were not complimentary but she is a forgiving Buddhist.

Because he gets talked about everyday in every thread .

And  the *Compare this case to something even worse , makes this case irrelevant" quote is also very common on TV .

Whatever some one does in a thread, a poster often replies with *What about the red bull guy, he did something worse and he got away with it *

    It becomes monotonous .

Although we are talking about laws of Thailand, rather than the principles of Buddhism .

Law and Buddhism are two separate entities .

If you are suggesting that as Thailand is Buddhist, then law breakers should be forgiven , then you will believe that the RB heir should be forgiven

I wonder if this counts as a conviction for a sex crime ? Could impact their travel - hopefully.

I don't think it does and I don't think it is.

Showing a bare butt isn't a sex act and it isn't pornography either, at least to most fair minded people. It is of course indecent exposure.

If their site was accessible to minors, then it surely would be covered by laws regarding nude photographs and minors.  Saw a guy get 10 years for sending a nude picture of himself to a student.  Trump helped out the blacks against his better judgement and is likely regretting it, even though he was in China at the time.  He has taken a lot of flak from the militant gay lobby, and it is safe to say he will not mention it.  My informal survey shows four out of five Americans would like to see them caged for a while.  A higher number in Thailand.  Thai citizens certainly do not get a free pass for crimes they commit in the US.

Sorry; been out tending the cows.

Now where were we? I am not suggesting; I am stating that the Thai authorities have got their priorities wrong on so much in Thailand. Laws are constantly being amended either because they do not work, or times have changed, or technology has driven the law-makers to keep up with a fast moving world. Lots of reasons why laws are made/changed/amended but more often than not their interpretation is loaded against certain sectors of the people.

People get away with murder in Thailand whilst others get 30 years for picking mushrooms just to save someone's face.

This 'crime' of showing botty is a triviality compared to the real nasty stuff going on.

Red Bull man is a good example amongst hundreds of what is wrong here.

You are not very bright, in my opinion.

The very first post about these guys in the first thread , not this one, remarked about a homosexual couple getting in trouble for the "butties".

Wallow on in blissfull ignorance.

Sorry my friend it is true here the numbers from the UK have dropped dramatic and most people you talk to have nothing but bad things to say about the place, even Thai's living here slag it off and would not ever move back. Big changes in the last 4 years, even I am surprised at the comments made about the land of scams sorry smiles Nowadays I do not recommend the place to fellow Brits as I know what they are saying and its not nice.
