Nongprue seizes street peddlers’ wares in East Pattaya

PATTAYA:--Nongprue authorities seized products and warned vendors to stop selling their wares on sidewalks in East Pattaya.

Sub-district Secretary Yanyong Kaweewacharawan led municipal police in the Nov. 22 raid on Soi Khao Noi and Soi Khao Talo, where residents repeatedly had complained about independent sellers blocking sidewalks on both sides of the streets.

No one was arrested or fined, but officers seized all the products for sale and warned the vendors that if they are caught again they will be jailed.

Yanyong said the sub-district is getting tough on peddlers, who are using public property – specifically sidewalks – to sell their goods for free and dumping waste into sewers, contributing to the flooding problem.

How much should have they paid ?

So funny that anybody could think that the police really care about sidewalks...

Are they going to seize the cars as well?

We probably don't need to convene the mighty TVF Tea Money Chorus with new initiates on this one to chant the chant. Anyway for the choristers if the police do, it's tea money; if they don't it's tea money. Since there's no question, the chant is pretty superfluous, innit?

As the article says, the residents care about the sidewalks.
