rooster59
Dawn border gunfight leaves 5 drugs couriers dead, yaba seized By Phathinya Srisupamart The Nation Thai paramilitary rangers from the Pha Muang task force on Sunday morning killed five drugs couriers and seized 1.9 million “yaba” methamphetamine pills in a forest about 700 metres from the Thai-Myanmar border in Chiang Rai’s Mae Fah Luang district. The 15-minute pre-dawn gunfight followed a tip-off to the Pha Muang task force that a large batch of narcotics would be smuggled into Thailand via Ban Chalor 9 area. The rangers staked out the area starting December 7 and at 5.30am on December 10 spotted a group of 20 to 30 men carrying backpacks and travelling on foot. The rangers reportedly told them to stop for a search but they instead opened fire, resulting in the brief gun battle. The rangers found five dead bodies and 19 makeshift backpacks made of fertiliser sacks, each containing 100,000 “yaba” pills. Blue Muton
20 to 30 men spotted, five shot dead but no reports of injured or arrested suspects. That leaves 15 to 25 unaccounted for. Time for the TV sleuths and conspiracy theorists to engage!

Yeah, all 20 or 30 would've been better, but 5 drug couriers assuming room temperature works for me. 5 dead is better than six times that number rounded up for a ridiculous photo op and then simply paying their way out somewhere... Well, don't forget the five dead are probably just the mules. Of course the real criminals stay out of the firing line.
fantom
5 shot dead. No injuries, no prisoners. No reports of injuries among the rangers. I find reports like this, not to mention the reactions from some tv posters most disturbing. I know there will be no investigation, no questions, no follow up. But 5 people shot dead? PerkinsCuthbert
Achieves nothing and makes no difference. With the abject poverty of Myanmar, not to say rural Northern Thailand, there will always be men willing to take the risk as mules. The War on Drugs in microcosm - futile. GOLDBUGGY
Looks like a Job very well done by this Task Force. It was not easy in what they did and they all should be highly recommended for this job. But if they are dealing with Drug King Pins they should never show there faces or reveal there true indentity. They and there Families could be at risk now. Drug King Pins don't play fare. This is how they remain Drug King Pins. So the Police should not play fare when dealing with them also. You will never see S.W.A.T. Police ever show there faces or do that for this reason. There true indenty is Highly Classified.
