EVENKEEL
It's the new Twin style retro looking bike. Either 600 or 650 cc. Can't find price on the websites. Anyone seen what price will be in Thailand?
VocalNeal
Quote and will be first launched in Europe, sometime in April 2018.
EVENKEEL
I got ahead of myself on the price, but looks like it could give the Triumphs some serious competition, as far as style goes, once it hits Thailand. Damrongsak
Saw an ad with "expected price" at 325000 Indian Rupees. About $5,000 USD. No idea what it would fetch in Thailand. https://images.maxabout.com/misc/infographics/image/quick-facts-royal-enfield-interceptor-650-continental-gt-
guzzi850m2
Yes 650cc 47 hp, very good classic looking bikes.https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2017/11/07/2018-royal-enfield-interceptor-and-continental-gt-unveiled/Sent from my SM-C710F using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

thaiguzzi
Not bad, but they could have done sooooo much better. I was quite looking fwd to this until it came out. Disappointing. Especially the arse about tit engine covers. Anybody wants to know why, just google images of the ORIGINAL Interceptor from the late 60's. One of the best big Brit twins ever made and certainly one of the best looking.
VocalNeal
Lots or work but maybe if the covers were water blasted matt?

No. The "timing" cover is on the left and the "primary" cover is on the right. Arse about tit to every Brit twin ever made inc the original RE Interceptor. And they are not very shapely. R/H side just looks like a blob. Want to see how it should be done just check the latest Hinkley Triumph twins out compared to the original Meriden Triumph twins. Classy covers.
VocalNeal
We'll have to wait for a magazine review. I am sure there is a logical if not artistic reason.
EVENKEEL
As far as price is concerned if new Interceptor would have a price in the 340,000bht range, wouldn't the Triumph be a better buy. I like the idea of air cooled, but isn't the Triumph a better built bike than RE?
Popular Post guzzi850m2
Very likely the Triumphs are better built, if you check any Triumph forum you never hear of anyone with major problems.I think 340k baht is a bit over the top for a 650cc bike, I also rather pay a bit more and get a Triumph if I should choose between them, Triumph is 900cc for the small engine models. Popular Post JonnyF
Royal Enfield seem way overpriced here. If these 650s are around the 340,000 Baht mark then you'd be mad to take that ahead of a 399k Triumph Street Twin IMO. No comparison in terms of quality. Royal Enfield are popular in India because they are so cheap, 340k is a bit of a joke. Worth considering at 250k but not at much more than that.

lemonjelly
The Triumph T100, the latest model should be water cooled but the Thai dealership websites seem to have the air cooled version..... ?

canthai55
Now this surprised me ... 2018 will see the company manufacture nearly 850,000 motorcycles, a 2,025 percent increase over the 40,000 motorcycles built in 2010. https://www.revzilla.com/common-tread/royal-enfield-overcoming-past-perceptions-to-build-a-new-reality-of-reliability

thaiguzzi
I just CANNOT GET MY HEAD round the motor being arse about tit. It's the wrong way round. Anybody brought up on Brit parallel twins knows what i'm talking about. It just don't look right.... All they had to do was design everything 180 around, maybe even have a R/H chain output, who cares, but at least it would have looked right.
Popular Post JonnyF
Haven't they got the names and models mixed up on that advert? I thought it was the Interceptor that was a Street Twin lookalike and the Continental GT was the the one that resembled the Thruxton? Anyway, very good prices - obviously an inferior bike to the Triumph but it's sufficiently cheaper to be a viable option for someone who maybe fancies a cool looking retro bike as a local runaround or a second/third bike but doesn't want to fork out 400,000 Baht or more for the privilege. I'm almost tempted.

I'm almost tempted. Yes, they did mismatch names to models. The price includes 3-yr warranty (unlimited km), 3 years road assistance, registration and insurance for first year, and Pirelli Phantom tires, not a bad package.
lemonjelly
It’s getting good reviews, the rear suspension seems to be a bit under par though
sabaijai
At this price, you could afford to replace the suspension with something more robust, if necessary, I inquired with local dealers, and they're taking orders now, for a deposit of 5,000 baht, with the first 650 twins to be delivered in March 2019.
