Jailed Redshirt Leader Jatuporn’s Defamation Prison Term Reduced

Wrong again. He confessed because he was guilty - he made the defamatory statement voluntarily.

Really wrong again - he, like all the other UDD "leaders" never say how they were appointed. But it was certainly not by an election! Rather ironic given the organization's name don't you think?

I believe that it is a form of caconym!

Another fine example is "I am a democratic soldier".

Get your facts straight.  It's a good conviction.  He should be in jail longer.

From the article in the OP:

I am wondering who gave the order to kill? According to the courts, it is not Abhisit, and it is not Suthep either. Who could it be among people who worked under their government at that time?

Many people in Thailand "confess" regardless of actual guilt.

Activists like Suthep and Chamlong among many also made incendiary and fiery speeches on their stages. They got their yellow shirts all worked up too and did lots of damages. Seem they are walking the streets untouched and free whereas ...,..

I don't remember a speech from the yellow shirts asking followers to being empty bottles so they could be filled with petrol and burn Bangkok to the ground.  Not did I see them create a massive fort in the middle of a major road.  Complete with heavily armed supporters.

Please enlighten me if I am wrong.  I'm not red nor yellow.  I'm for the truth.

Probably those in the field who were being shot at.

Especially when caught on video tape.

in What damage.. anything comparable to bombing of kids of setting fire to BKK ? The yellow shirts however anoying they could be never dropped down to that level of voilence. The red leaders were masters at inciting their masses and then letting them do the dirty work for them with all the violence. They deserve to be behind bars far more then the leaders of the yellows. Though I would not mind seeing Suthep behind bars for corruption.

Even better would be to see Prayuth behind bars, and those he protects, for corruption but that is not possible, because Thailand is corruption. The country would cease to function without it.  It would take decades, possibly more, for it to function without pigs at the trough and manipulated political turf wars. It's the way of things and it starts right at the top. The top we can not mention ever, which blatantly disregards facts and makes all other discussion pointless. Wonder how the weather is in Germany today?

No, usually the CCTV is not working when the "guilty" either "confess" or "commit suicide" with a sock or suffer heart failure.

Agreed!  But not this time.  Caught on tape.

I aint denying the guy is a thug, nor am I a red-shirt supporter at all. I just find it quite pathetic that an entity that usurped power from an elected government and now threatens anyone in jail who expresses an opinion to be completely bankrupt. I thought the Shins were appalling in their arrogance, audacity and corruption, but they were saints compared with the man-child and his band of merry men. People now do time for pressing 'like' on FB. What does that say about a society? There is actually in Thailand such a thing as "attitude adjustment"... sorry, but after that, nothing the current "government" does or says hold any water, and prosecutions against guts like this ring hollow given what the situation really is... the one we can't mention, of course.

Did you read the bit about where he confessed? To publicly accusing someone of something he had no proof of?

And he still has to face some other serious charges.

Btw - who elected him to be leader of the UDD?

Everyone confesses for the 'bonus' 50% reduction even when innocent. I guess that passed you by?

This guy is directly responsible for the hostage taking of Bangkok and later burning of Bangkok in 2010. I wonder if he has/will be punished for that.

Oh please, a different refrain for the love of God...

This one's not even entertaining any more.

Don't get him fired up, or we will be hearing about the "civil war" next...

It was not an opinion it were lies without proof to incite the reds to do more violence to their upon their opponents.  That is a bit different then having an opinion. He is rightly convicted and its sad that his sentence was halved. Doubled would be more to my liking. But hopefully they will prosecute him for terrorism before he gets out and ad a few more years to his sentence.

Yeah the sun rising daily in the east gets a bit old, yet it's a fact. Just like what I posted.

I have several Juntarists in my ignore bin, so try not to take part in the let's say the "discussions" I Strongly agree with the non-Junaterists posters. How would you Junta fans like you and your family brought up under a Miltary Junta in your own country

They were saints? 2500 people killed without a court case?

Pro junta is different from anti red thug....Think about that for a while.

Not that I know of. Anyway those guys Ahbisit and Suthep who ordered the use of live ammo were acquitted by the court. See irony in this defamation conviction. One got the maximum sentencing for defamation of an acquitted pair who were responsible for the deaths of so many civilians.

I see, so they should have kindly asked all those armed protesting people to leave BKK and clean up the mess of all the streetfires after they left?

Those recalcitrant lot of die-hard juntarists and yellow shirts defenders are not worth the time to reply. They keep regurgitating the same stuffs that have been debunked. They love the military rule as long as it is not their country.

An opinion that landed him in jail.  Fantastic.  I'm not in favor of those who's opinion it is to destroy property and kill others.

I'm perfectly happy living here under military rule as long as it keeps the Shin clan from power. Was happy about the coup in 2006 and again in 2014.

Democracy isn't for everyone. People should stop trying to impose their western values around the world.

Take a look at the current president in the US as well as the previous 2. All terrible in my opinion.

Abhisit never ordered  the use of live ammo. You are just repeating redshirt propaganda. Your post is ignorant and serious defamation. it is also contempt of court.

Actually it is even worse than what you stated. They have not even been acquired by a court because there has been no trial. The NACC just dismissed the case in 2015. 90+ dead people and no in-depth investigation and no trial.

So much for the 'See, they were acquitted by a free and independent judiciary' fiction.

I did actually reference my view within a comparative context.  Let me make this loud and clear - I do not, did not, nor likely ever will - support the Shins. How hard is that to understand? I'm talking about the present pigs, not the ones that preceded them.

You know this how? A different propaganda methinks.

Still, you might be right, Abhisit was never a leader, all his serious decisions were taken by Suthep. Speaking of whom, I'd love to hear how all the allegations of his corruption and sedition allegations were propaganda and how he's actually a  much-misunderstood guardian of democracy.

Hang on, I'd like to sit down for this, I find belly-laughing while standing up so undignified.

He was not jailed for "inciting" he was jailed for saying Abhisit ordered killings. He is wrong but it doesn't deserve jail time it's just an OPINION.

Ahbisit should not be allowed to escape accountability for the killings and other serious abuses simply because he was the Prime Minister and he has the power to overrule the use of live rounds, sharpshooters and snipers or he could influence the use of force in accordance to international methods. He didn't so Jatuporn may have a point. The criminal court didn't saw it that way but the Human Right Watch was aghast and said it was a serious setback. He set up CRES and attended all the meetings and can played a big part in the decision making. He was either weak or the real Prime Minister was actually Suthep.
