It just goes to show the small mindedness and pettiness of some people, and is almost a joke... makes me embarrassed to be British.

These people would not care is the country goes to hell, people starve or are forced out of work and onto the streets... so long as they have a read British blue passport then their life is complete and they can stick a finger up to Europe.

Quite the opposite really , people voted to leave the E.U. for the reason that they would be able to have jobs and houses .

What was it , Labours *British jobs for British workers* and 1 million jobs were created and 95 % of those jobs were taken by Europeans .

Europeans work cheaper that Brits , they can undercut the Brits .

Five Polish guys living in a one bedroom apartment , eating a loaf of bread and a swan a day can undercut a Brit, with a Wife and mortgage .

British working class voted to take their jobs and housing back

As a fellow Yorkshireman, Can you order one for me.

On on a more serious note. I’m very happy OUR passport is reverting back to the dark blue colour. But what is far more important, is the removal of those dreaded words.

European (so called ) Union

The Rebel: leading contributor Tommy Robinson, founder of the EDL (English Defence League) UK neo-fascist organisation.

Although Tommy Robinson did leave the EDL in 2013 and acknowledged the dangers of far right extremism .

Whatever the political stance of the EDL are is irrelevant .

Tommy Robinson is opposed to extremism in all  forms, Anti-Nazi and anti Islamic extremism.

Quite right, with all this nonsense going on its embarrassing speaking in an English accent over here, seriously considering of cultivating an Oz twang, Alabama drawl, anyone?.

Not worth the effort.  The vast majority of Thais know nothing about it - and certainly don't care!

Westerners (other than Brits.) aren't much bothered either.

You'd have to be seriously deranged to be embarrassed to be a Brit. in Thailand due to brexit.....

Back on topic - the old, hardcover, midnight blue passport was nice/impressive -  but I expect the new blue version will look as cheap as the burgundy version it replaces.

I hope that it does, those old blue "books" were a pain to carry around in a money belt .

They fitted in with a brief case perfectly though

I think to get anything resembling the old hardcover passport back would mean ignoring US regulations and requirements for ESTA and the Visa Waiver Program.

Does that make him a Neo Nazi fascist who shouldnt have a viewpoint and that we should all ignore magazines that he writes for ?

We are talking about British passports and that has branched out to a mortgage fraud carried out .................well, lets just say that we are going way off topic and its also irrelevant

The rebel also has Tanveer Ahmed as the main contributor from Australia , in a similar position to Tommy Robinsons , which shows that the publication isnt a racist one

Would that be the Tanveer Ahmed sentenced to 27 years in prison for murder?

Non stop attempting to portray people you disagree with in a negative light , rather than discussing what they say , and no, he hasnt been jailed for murder , or for anything else, for that matter .

Anyway, back to UK Blue passports

I guess it must be the Tanveer Ahmed then who was sacked for alleged plagiarism.

Yes. A majority of the British public succumbed to blatant nationalism and economic illiteracy. Shameful and slowly people are realising their mistake.

I'm lost , what does Tanveer Ahmed , an Australian, who got sacked for plagiarism , have to do with the colour of UK's passports ?

There will be a great deal of Brits embarrassed when they try to explain to their wives that they will have to pay for a Schengen visa and that they no longer have the right of free movement in Europe.

I cannot see how any self respecting member of this forum can be pleased to deprive his wife of that right. I have already apologised to my wife for the actions of the brexiteers and fortunately having done 3 Schengen visas it is unlikely we will require another.

I feel v sorry for you.  Presumably you've a European wife and not a Thai wife?

Perhaps you should also explain to your ignorant wife that nothing has currently changed - we're all waiting to find out the 'final' agreement....

Who cares??  This is so obviously a sop to brexiteer 'little england' opinion.

It is symbolic. Makes some people happy. As long as we don't get those old cardboard passports then I will be unhappy.

That has yet to be agreed upon between the E.U and the UK.

Whatever happens will be reciprocal .

If Brits have to pay for European Visas, the Europeans will have to pay for British visa .

They may very well come to an agreement that all visa fees are waved on both sides, so, theres no need to go red with embarrassment, just yet .

BTW , Thais did have to pay for Schengen visa prior to Brexist and nothing will change in that respect

When forum thread contributors provide links to hardline websites they like to hang out with as reference points, always good to check out the dodgy company they are keeping. And in the above example (The Rebel) we haven't been disappointed.

It is OK to have a (reasonable) go at forum contributors. It is not OK IMHO to make an uncalled-for remark about a contributor's family member.
