December 23, 20178 yr Seven diseases under watch next year The Department of Disease Control has listed seven infectious and non-infectious diseases that people should watch out next year. Warning by the director-general of the Department of Disease Control Dr Suwanchai Wattanayingcharoen came as past statistics showed rising patients from these diseases. The seven diseases are: 1.Dengue fever: In 2017, there are 50,033 dengue fever cases with 59 deaths. The trend is rising from June to September. It is expected that in 2108, the number of dengue case will also exceed 50,000 next year, or an average 4,500–9,000 cases a month in 35 risk provinces. December 23, 20178 yr Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble, Grub. Not sure what the seventh is, but must be bad, very very bad. Edited December 23, 20178 yr by BigBadGeordie
December 23, 20178 yr Avoid all people at all measures When people sneeze, or cough, run away. Don't touch anything. Don't get near anyone. And definitely don't travel in public transportation. Be sure to spray and wipe down everything your handlers purchase in the store for you. You don't want to go out there to the supermarket or stores, there are diseased people out there. In fact, just make a big bubble and grow your own food, have your own self sustaining world inside that bubble. And do not allow those dirty and diseased people to . your bubble. Enforce your home with mosquito traps and sprays. Don't have any puddles of water surrounding your home within 1 or 2 kilometers. Build a giant wall Trump style to keep all those dirty diseases out. And definitely, wear one of those useless particle masks at all times that don't really stop anything of the harmful categoried airborne illnesses from entering your mouth. They are fashionable and blue is my favorite color.

Given the increasing number of times ,of putting my foot in my mouth in this forum and elsewhere I am more concerned with Hand, foot and mouth disease.
December 23, 20178 yr Articles like this are frustrating.Thailand has a tuberculosis epidemic and not a word in the media. When there are 90,000+ new cases per year, there is a problem. It's a crisis when approx. 15%+ of the TB cases are co-infected with HIV and it's a catastrophic crisis waiting to happen when almost 2% are near incurable because of antibiotic resistance. No mention of Thailand's HIV or Hepatitis problems. All preventable. All but ignored.
December 23, 20178 yr Someone at The Department of Disease Control seems to be empire building. At the time of the King's cremation they wanted a ban on alcohol sales for the week and in my town they are now visiting bars and restaurants informing owners of the need to hide pictures, signs and logos which might encourage the drinking of alcohol. Enough to do already with malaria, dengue, diabetes, HIV, polluted waterways, uncontrolled dogs etc. surely.
December 23, 20178 yr Nepotism can be a serious uncontrollable disease, mainly hits elderly Government/Military types. No cure is currently available in Thailand for this condition. Last outbreak not so long ago.
December 24, 20178 yr Whew! I thought the old General had finally come up with a reason for his luxury watch fettish A different disease for each luxury watch.
December 24, 20178 yr Food poisoning: This year saw 101,000 fallen sick with 3 deaths from food poisoning. The department predicted that around 100,000 food poisoning cases next year, or 9,000–11,000 a month particularly during January-May. Only 101,000 fallen sick ??? At least times half the population has had food poisoning last year. The chance of getting food poisoning is way higher then winning anything in the Thai lottery. Myself on average once per month, last food poisoning was on Sunday Dec 17th and I am cooking myself 4 to 5 times per week, leaving us going out 2 - 3 times per week... Thai cooks and hygiene standards don't match. Employees not washing their hands after visiting the toilet, saw it with my own eyes last Thursday while washing my hands after ordering and before having some food. A cook on a Thai toilet (the ones that you can't sit) having a dump, flushing the toilet with a cup of (sewer) water, coming out and going straight to the kitchen preparing the meat... I called my wife, stepped on my bike and drove off without canceling my order!!! If you say the letters HACCP meaning Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points in Thailand, the Thais are thinking you're talking an outer universe language. Edited December 24, 20178 yr by PAIBKK

Last outbreak not so long ago.It can I believe be relieved, if not cured, by treatment abroad. One hears tell that particularly effective treatments are to be had in Hawaii...Sent from my KENNY using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
December 24, 20178 yr Don't forget about all the other conditions and diseases that are spreading among society. Please people, stay home! do not go outside under any circumstances. It's a sick world out there. And definitely don't touch anyone or anything. Containment! we must contain and refrain....... Or just go out and have a good time, that is what I'm planning to do.

I'd agree with the food borne illness stuff. I cook most of my own meals and am highly hygienic with my food handling. It makes me ill to think that someone doesn't wash their hands before handling the food I eat. So I'm quite selective of where I eat and what I eat.
December 24, 20178 yr And the eighth disease to watch, heart attacks brought on by worrying that one won`t catch any of the other seven deadly diseases.

Ah ha, so no pictures of politicians, high ranking Government officials and Police then? I'll drink to that!

Those "useless particle maks" are designed to stop the wearer from transmitting bacteria to others, that's why medical staff where them, not to protect themselves, people wearing them to help clean the air they breath are seriously misguided.
December 25, 20178 yr The most prolific disease affecting Thailand is corruption, unfortunately, it appears to be incurable!

Can't even remember the last time i got food poisoning. The food poisoning never comes from my cooking. I am used to the European hygiene in kitchens and for food. The chance of getting food poisoning in "restaurants" in Thailand is around 7%. Check the stats on Google / Wiki !!! This means that if you eat out in Thailand daily once every 2 weeks you get poisoned. Some stomachs are resistant and some aren't. I know mine isn't or wasn't when I'm kneeling in front of the toilet and/or having diarrhea. Edited December 25, 20178 yr by PAIBKK

Millions of people eat every day without getting food poisoning. A lot of people use the term food poisoning when in reality something else is going on , in a similar manner people use the term migraine when in fact they simply have a headache. I often have an adverse reaction after dining out - but I suspect that is more due to the 15 changs rather than the food I have eaten.
December 25, 20178 yr Which country has the highest rate of deaths in Asia due to antibiotics being no longer effective ? Which country has less control on over the counter antibiotics sales than beer ? Which country received a high level delegation of EU health officials regarding the use of antibiotics in Feb 2017 despite having given the WHO assurances that it was dealing with the situation 10 years ago ? Which country has a populace that believes antibiotics can cure viral infections ?
December 26, 20178 yr What is it with their numbers? They look like economic inflation percentages. I realize they are trying to inflate their budget, but don't they realize it looks like a Departmental Incompetence ratio is being applied?
