Before the wonderful "Use the seach function" posts start rolling in, I already did, and didn't seems to locate the clear answer I am looking for.

What I want to know is this - In clear and easy to understand points, what are the true benefits to me to obtain Permanent Residency. I have a non-imm type O, and I'm going on 5 years in the country, married, one child, work for government university. If I pay the huge fee, and I still have to get reentry permits when i travel, what is in it for me?

If the rules change yet again regarding non-O's then you won't be affected. You won't have to reapply every year. If you don't plan on staying here for the rest of your life, then I personally don't think its worth it.

You are aware that you must have one year extensions, not just a regular non-imm O to qualify right?
