rooster59
Two killed as pickup crashes into Krabi shop By The Nation Two villagers died while eating at a road-side khanom chin (Thai rice noodle) shop when a pickup truck smashed into them in Krabi at noon on Saturday, police said. The accident happened on the Sinpoon-Lamthab road in Moo 2 village in Tambon Khokhan in Krabi’s Khao Phanom district. Police identified the two victims as Somchai Maithong, 51, and Pornthiwa Boonthong, 42. The shop owner escaped the accident as she had left to buy more knanom chin. The pickup driver, Somporn Krainara, 24, was slightly injured. He told police that he lost control at the curve and hit the shop because it was raining and the road was slippery. These roads clearly need to be improved as they are far below par, unlike the driving ability of the "average" Thai. Grrrrr, bad, bad roads and rain, grrrr. rebo
"... he lost control at the curve and hit the shop because it was raining and the road was slippery." So annoying to read the same lame nonsense day by day! He lost control because he didn't adjust his speed/driving to the weather conditions causing slippery roads. Period! We recently had THREE accidents within 500 metres of my house on a morning that it rained for the first time in weeks. The fact that the roads would be greasy and slippery would never have occurred to them because none of them have had any real or any at all driving instruction. Fortunately they only damaged themselves, their vehicles and a couple of innocent trees that got in their way.

Happens in Northern Australia too, commonly with tourists .....or nonimmigrants

They don't do that here or even have the slightest comprehension of what it means.
