i arrive into BKK airport at approx 8pm at night,      is there an alternative to a taxi into chinatown area .

++1 on Ubonjoe, if you don't want to get a taxi, Airport Link + MRT.

 

How far from Hua Lampong station is your destination?

 

There are a myriad of taxi and tuktuk drivers outside the station just waiting to rip off the unwary (including Thais).

You can take one of the other exits at Hua Lamphong to avoid the train station.

Yes. Come out of customs, turn right, head for the 1st escalator. Look up for signs and follow them.
