Taiwanese man charged with drug trafficking

The Phnom Penh Municipal Court charged a Taiwanese man with drug trafficking on Wednesday. The accused was caught with more than four kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and ecstasy.

 

Deputy prosecutor Oum Sopheak confirmed the man was charged with drug trafficking, but declined to comment further. Ev Phearith, the Phnom Penh Anti-Drug Trafficking police chief, said the accused was Tsai Jan-Ko, 58. He was arrested on December 29 in Daun Penh district.

 

Mr Phearith said he and his officers had been following Mr Jan-Ko for six months before making the arrest. The accused had been living in Cambodia for about seven years. “He said he had a partner and accomplice,” Mr Phearith said. “We are investigating this further.
