Ex-deputy commerce minister Banyin to be indicted

The attorney-general has decided to indict former deputy commerce minister Banyin Tangpakorn and his alleged accomplices on forgery charges in connection with the dubious transfer of about 200 million baht worth of shares of the late businessman Chuwong sae Tang.

 

Earlier, the public prosecutor of the Southern Bangkok Civil Litigation Department decided not to indict Pol Lt-Col Banyin, former Thai Rak Thai MP for Nakhon Sawan, and his alleged accomplices due to insufficient evidence. But this was objected by the national police chief, Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda, who referred the case to the attorney-general for finalization.

 

Attorney-general Khemchai Chutiwong recently decided to indict the Pol Lt-Col Banyin and his alleged accomplices, an informed OAG source said.

If I remember Mr Chuwong managed to move from the passenger seat to the driver's seat after the fatal accident. Banyin magically disappeared and then suddenly remembered he was in the car after some evidence put him in the car at the time. All this as the shares were doing some changes in ownership that rivalled that of Taxin's maid and driver's temporary ownership of large slices of AIS.

 

At the time CSI Thai Visa  were very dubious about Binyin coming to justice. Oh what a difference a couple of years (and a coup) make.

A coup makes a lot of difference.. this guy was PTP.. under their reign he would probably gone free.. but the crime did not happen under PTP rule.. but under junta rule. But I guess his powerbase was eroded more and more as PTP did not get back in power so justice (hopefully) caught up with him

 

Justice works very slowly in Thailand,and this is only

the start of very long trial,and if found guilty ,could still

be many more years before he sees inside of a cell,there

are many cases like this,you read about them,then nothing.

Anything short of homicide is a travesty of justice and demonstrates how even if a victim is in the privileged class, the status of the defendant/suspect holds more weight in the corrupt police and judicial systems.

Three to face court over Chuwong share transfer

ATTORNEY-GENERAL Khemchai Chutiwongse has ordered that a former deputy commerce minister and two female associates be prosecuted on charges of faking documents to claim shares belonging to a businessman.

 

The alleged forgery involves more than Bt300million worth of shares belonging to construction tycoon Chuwong Saetang, who was found dead in a car driven by former Cabinet member, Pol Lt-Colonel Banyin Tangpakorn, in 2015. 

 

Banyin, who initially claimed that Chuwong died in a car accident, is now a key murder suspect in an ongoing inquiry into the death. The share transfers took place before his death.

 

For now, Banyin, will have to go to court to face document forgery charges along with the two people into whose names Chuwong’s shares were transferred: Kantana Siwathanapon and former stockbroker Uracha Wachirakulton.

Chuwong’s elder sister, Wanpen Tanathamsiri, said yesterday that her family had been fighting for justice for two and a half years. “Damage has been done and, as we are the damaged parties, we should be compensated and the wrongdoers should face the legal consequences of their actions,” she said. 

 

Although Wanpen said she was satisfied with Khemchai’s decision to an extent, her family still believed that the three suspects should also face charges of theft and acceptance of ill-gotten gains. 

 

Some police share Wanpen’s opinion but, so far, Khemchai has had the final say in the matter. Public prosecutors have told police to bring Banyin, Uracha and Kantana to court over the charges of faking and using the documents to take Chuwong’s shares. The shares have been deposited in two securities firms, one of which was Uracha’s former employer.

This has as much to do with the prosecution as anything methinks. Kn Bayin is learning the hard way not to upset families that have resources and influence.

Seems like Banyin was indicted today?

 

"The deputy commander said that Chuwong was clubbed to death."

 

7-iron as most previously postulated.

 

Banyin's first wife died under eerily similar circumstances years ago.

 

Banyin has been told to report to the authorities on June 8...go directly to Cambodia, do not pass Go.
