Video: 20 vs 1 - Thai street violence as compatriots call youths "dogs"

No he didn't start it. Look carefully and you'll see one of the gang sucker punch the bloke next to the victim first. The victim retaliated and then "whooosh" - all in. It was more than 5 that had a go too.

If you notice there is a long procession of guys walking past and some of them simply couldn't have seen the start of the fight. One guy in a white t-shirt notices the guy on the floor and decides to take a quick kick at him.

Yes more than 5

The video in the OP is unfortunately cropped to omit a couple of attacks from behind on people standing on the right, here is the full one https://www.facebook.com/groups/100943370351548/permalink/382503705528845/

It's a gang of lads out looking for trouble, the ones at the front are picking out people that are standing at the stall on the right  to attack from behind.

You can see many of the people at the back that are walking toward the camera at the back of the shot immediately run toward the action as soon as punches start flying, whereas those not in the gang back away, or run away from from it. Those that run toward the action do so because they knew exactly what might be about to happen.

Maybe they should show this in the western press instead of a sensational headline story of two old codgers giving each other a push and calling it a 'huge street brawl'!

NOT 20/1 more like 5/1 and the victim started the fight.

Before comment, have a better look at the video! Perhaps something wrong with the eyes, but a guy in a dark shirt from this group hits someone next to the victim and than he reacts! Oh, and 5 to 1 does it make better?

Where I come from that would be seen as cowardice and others would step if the victim was getting the shit kicked out of by a group of blokes

The victim didn't start it. Have another look at the video.

So the guy  people thought threw the first punch is actually throwing the second punch. The first punch was a sucker punch on someone standing close to the guy who eventually got thrashed. The whole gang was there to fight, it is pretty obvious. Big gang of really tough guys that aren't afraid to go 20 against one when they have the 20. :passifier:

Mob mentality and action is oftentimes an indicator of more serious underlying societal problems.

oh... sorry... I’m forgetting where I am.

Third in fact - another one of the group punched someone else in a different section moments earlier (again a sucker punch). This is why I think they were just attacking random people and trying to provoke a reaction. Though it's possible the three people punched knew each other and they had an earlier encounter with the gang.

Did you spot the brilliant suggestion by a Thai man in the article?  A good solution to fighting.  Anyone involved in fighting is automatically enlisted in the army !  Bet this will curb some of the cowards and mobs. Must suggest this in more places !

On the contrary, enlistment of idiots  like this is what causes discipline problems, and abuse.  Aggressive, angry, ill disciplined  men do not magically change  upon entry into the military. It is why we have acts of  cruelty from military both serving and after they leave service.  The military can not cure mental illness or lack of moral fibre and the last person I would want to serve with is a coward.

There are multiple claims of  violent abusive hazing of conscripts, and of savage beatings of residents in "Red zones" and in the south. The people responsible for these  acts are typically the same types who engage in the acts highlighted here. The military is for  people serving their nation with respect and honour, not a dumping ground for sociopaths and  misfits.

ok...so please defend the actions of the punk cowards...please explain and justify their actions...in your own unique and persuasive way.

nice strawman - you should get an award for that.

One of these days they will attack the wrong person. Would love to see them hit someone who had a few knives and watch the pack run once one or two of their lot get disembowelled. Now that would be a video worth watching

The victim was clearly hit first in the video I can see! And the the gutless crowd descended on him. Maybe you saw a different video -- maybe watch it until the end to see the truth is my suggestion

Probably best to stay away from party's, etc after dark. It happens all the time, last year there was a big fight in our local market after a movie was shown. The boss of the village was attacked buy a gang of young lads, his son then tried to shoot one of the attackers.

100% and it's not just a Thai thing the days of "taking it outside" and having a fair fight are all over. Try starting a fight in Sydney and see if the blokes mates don't all jump in, that's if you don't get king hit or glassed first. Boys will boys it's just that everyone has a phone camera to capture the antics these days
