The Thai Meteorological Department issued a warning of heavy rain and strong wind in southern provinces from Songkhla downward to the southernmost provinces today (Sunday) until Monday as a result of strong northeastern monsoon which is covering the Gulf and the South.

In its 9th announcement issued Sunday morning, the Weatherman warned people in Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Krabi, Trang and Satun to brace for flash flood and flooding due to the heavy rain.

People living along the eastern coast in the aforementioned provinces were also warned of strong wind and high waves. Fishermen and sailors were also told to exercise special caution when venturing out to sea in the Gulf and Andaman Sea during the two-day period due to rough sea and waves as high as 3 metres.
