snoop1130
Former England and West Brom striker Regis dies, aged 59 (Reuters) - Former West Bromwich Albion, Coventry City and England international striker Cyrille Regis has died at the age of 59, the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) said on Monday. "A true gentleman and legend, he will be deeply missed. Our sympathies to his family and friends," the PFA wrote in a tweet from it's official account. Regis scored 112 goals in 297 appearances for West Brom before joining Coventry in 1984, where he won the FA Cup three years later. He would go on to play for Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Wycombe Wanderers and Chester City before hanging up his boots in 1996. Regis, who was appointed an MBE in 2008, returned to West Brom as a coach before becoming a football agent. catman20
strange how we seem to hear about a lot of ex athletes that die early form heart attacks or something else when they have been so fit and healthy all there lives. RIP Edited January 16, 2018 by catman20
phutoie2
Fine centre forward who never seemed to score simple tap ins. Sunday morning league player too. The trio at WBA were a joy to watch, Regis, Baston, Cunningham, all while being subjected to immense racism at certain grounds. Heard Cyrille on a tribute programme talking about 10000 singing "clean my boots n****r" and throwing bananas on the pitch. None would be brave enough to say it to his face. Jonnapat
One of the first black footballers to make his mark in the English game. A great footballer and a gentleman, not many of those left today. RIP
