The advantage is that my company could stop paying the law firm every year to renew my visa. It always interrupts my projects as well. I'd love to get it, but not sure internet/telecom will be allowed under this scheme.

I know of a number of software decelopers in thailand who make this money for 2 week consulting contracts and have made similar in the past for less than a weeks work. 75000 usd per year is not a whole lot of money in software. There are also thais out there easily making that salary someone is driving all those luxury cars you see on tne roads of bangkok and living in or owning those 75 thousand baht per month condos. Sorry you dont seem to be among them.

blackcab
A long term visa with no work permit? Sounds like a nightmare. Can you imagine getting the visa then opening a bank account? Mee work permit mai? Or getting a post paid phone? Or a driving license? Or all the other things you get asked for a work permit for? Also, with no work permit could you apply for permanent residence in the same way?

Evolare
I thought I heard something about startups before reading this post...but nothing about startups is mentioned here...most startup groups wont have 20 million to start with them self but other people will invest in them as they have something to show. If they want to target the S-curve businesses and technologies of the future and let startups in where people is not carrying 200.000 a month salaries for the first 2-3 years...then they have to rethink their definition.
