Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has appointed as “advisers to the government” eight former ministers who lost their positions in the last Cabinet reshuffle.

They were “like family”, Prayut said yesterday, adding that the ex-ministers had high credentials. More importantly, they had worked in the government so they understood the problems and the administration’s public-relations plans, he explained.

The PM said everyone was his family but stressed that this was about work, and not any special interest.

No one gets any benefit to be one of his ministers, he stressed.

bet i'm not included in that; as to this latest round of cronyism, bet they either do not have offices or will never go there, no meetings; just some nice fat checks

What is all this meek "family" and "like family" talk?

One almost could gain the - undoubtedly wrong - impression Thailand was run by a mafia organization.

Oops...

At least he openly admit that this is a family and crony government and that include those buddy NACC members.

The Family That Eats Together Stays Together.

And I thought 'la familia' is only ruling Sicilly.

No names identified - very curious.

According to Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cabinet_of_Thailand

  • Prayut effective November 23, 2017 terminated twenty cabinet members, but elminated one DPM position (Adm.Narong?) and reassigned one from minister to DPM (Gen. Chatchai) for a net replacement of eighteen positions.
  • Total cabinet is 31 members

It appears that among the replaced Ministers & DPM's are five flag officers: Gen. Sirichai, Gen. Anupong, Gen. Chutima, Gen. Adul and Gen. Udomdej,

Maybe these five are part of the eight brought back as "advisors to the government?"

In any case Prayut's stated purpose for the 5th cabinet reshuffle was to improve government effectiveness. How is it rational (apart from self-serving personal reasons) then to bring back eight as advisors and increase the cabinet to 39 members?

Are there cracks forming?

Moreover, if they had been dismissed for not being effective in their job, how will they be able to give valuable advices?
