Blood donors flock to Red Cross after cancer patient’s Facebook Live plea

By The Nation

A woman took to Facebook Live on Thursday, begging for blood donations so she could receive an operation to remove a cancer tumour on her chin on Monday. And the results were overwhelming.

With tears in her eyes, Minta Sohkhuthod told viewers on her “Miny Mint” Facebook account that she wanted to fight the cancer, but Lertsin Hospital did not have enough of her blood type.

Her Facebook Live plea has been viewed over 936,000 times, shared more than 28,300 times and received more than 11,000 reactions.

On Saturday morning, Minta made a new post to thank all the kind-hearted people who came to the Thai Red Cross head office on Henri-Dunant road to donate blood in her name.

Many donors posted photos of their blood donation form made out with her as the recipient. Minta later posted that she had a big smile on her face as she could now receive her operation on Monday.
