i have some stress at the moment , im getting very bad chest pains, pain is right in centre of chest. cannot take a large breath in without a sharp pain . to touch the chest bone and press it in very centre is sore.  pain is constant 2 days now

could it be heart ?

muscle pulled ?

getting bit worried about this and i should have went to hospital but i think to examine heart etc would be a lot of money .

im due to fly home in the morning so will get checked when back.

im in pattaya at the moment and wondering if i did suffer some kind of heart attack an ambulance would probably not even come for a few hours.

i do have nationwide travel insurance .

if i went to hospital how long would it take them to examine me and price ?

cheers

In any hospital, assuming you enter through the Emergency dept (as you should), a complaint of chest pain will get immediate attention.

Price will vary greatly by hospital. But even at the top end, the initial examination would nto run too high - it needs only some bloodwork (cardiac enzymes), EKG and perhaps chest Xray.  Roughly anywhere from under 1,000 baht (government hospital) to maybe 5,000- baht (private).

Where things would get pricey is if the examination found that the pain was cardiac in origin, at which point angiogram etc would be recommended. If this occurs you could discuss with them whether it is safe for you to travel and have this done at home.

Cardiac cause definitely needs to be excluded as a priority but since the pain is linked to in breath, it is quite possibly due to pleuritis (inflammation of the lining if the lung). Nonetheless, do not delay. Chest pain should always be taken quite seriously and prompt medical attention obtained.

I'd also suggest having it looked at back home, even if you get a clean bill of health in Thailand.   I got an "all clear" in a famous, expensive hospital in BKK, after an EKG and stress test.   When they found nothing and tried to send me home, I insisted on going to the next level of testing.   I'm glad I did.

2 days later, I got a 4x bypass.  No telling if I'd be here today had I followed their guidance.

I had a "widow maker" in May of this year, laying on the floor doing the funky chicken.

I stongly urge you to get advice from a doctor instead of barstool pundits

Minutes matter a great deal if you have had a HA

From personal experience it could just be acid reflux

Could, would, should? Better to be on the safe side and not to fly home in the cargo unit.

Knowing the hospitals and its doctors, I'd even try two different hospitals/ doctor's opinions. You live only once.

Does not sound like a heart attack if the pain is in the centre of the chest. But it could be some sort of inflammation that can get serious without treatment .

I would not fly back to your home country until you have visited a local hospital , even the public hospitals here can be of great help and you will pay less money .

Well, I'm just throwing it out there as he said he's flying home in the morning and there would be no time to do any serious tests.

From what he is describing it doesn't sound anything like heart attack, so I thought why stress the guy for nothing.

Chest pain can have many causes but a heart attack/angina always needs to be ruled out. The fact that it is in the center if the chest does not to rule out cardiac origin, cardiac pain can be felt in atypical locations and does nto always follow "classic" pattern.

It will only take 1-2 hours in an ER to rule this out, and he should do so before undertaking a flight.

I hate to bring this up...but weren't you the guy looking for vitamin IV drips to stave off massive drinking binges ?
Yep, he's the guy.
