IDC info and advice (thanks in advance)

Featured Replies

Hello forum members,

I am soon looking at going to IDC Bangkok and would like some advice from forum members who have information and advice about the place.

I have written 2 posts before on here and realise there are a lot of forum trolls, sarcastic negative comment types and generally obnoxious people who seem to revel in creating negativity so please keep your negative energy to yourself guys as really what purpose in life do you serve by being this way. I understand it might give you a temporary sense of euphoria and happiness but in the end the negative energy you give only comes back to you in some form........

So the case is not drugs related in any way. nor is it violence or anything that sinister, its a relitivaly trivial thing that has been escalated for various reasons.

After many months it is finally going to court but I am outside my visa by 60 odd days as I could not get a defendant visa (police had passport) so I will be going to IDC early feb.

I have been to the British Embassy and they said that because I will have the cash available from UK for a flight home they can estimate I will be in IDC around 10 days?

I was told I could take cash in there?

I was told I might be able to use an ATM card and will be escorted to ATM to withdraw funds?

I am unsure what I can take into the cell in terms of personal possessions? Dhoby (wash) kit? like soap, a flannel, toothbrush, tooth paste?

Clothing wise what can i actually take into the cell as have been told I will share with around 70 other people?

I have been told (though no definitive answer) that you can "buy" a bit more comfort like a decent bit of bedding in a more pleasant area of the cells ran by the cell "top dogs" and to be honest I'd prefer a bit comfier sleeping ability if it is available.

Can I buy food from outside as I have no one here who can come and help me out?

Does the Royal British Legion have any representatives in Bangkok that does visits to IDC as I am a former serviceman (Can prove my service with my RM P0 number)?

Realistically what are the conditions like and what are the reports of the amount of time on average UK citizens who can pay for a flight home like (10 days realistic)?

I would invite positive and informative comments please as I know there are some good folk on here and thanks in advance, on the bright side I have a few extra lbs to shift as I have been on the pre IDC diet fattening up so might come out in decent shape :/

Thank you, hopefully not as I have someone in UK who will help out, I am just fortunate that is the case as think it will be heart breaking seeing others in there with such misfortunes. My misfortune will seem really insignificant in comparison.

Appreciate the comment and support, have a great day :)
