The British Empire at its height was not WWII.  Think you are confusing  2 different things.

Keep the rose coloured glasses on  , the people who went to "Colonise" the "new world " were a far different sort of people to todays scroungers who are not going to build a new world but are helping to destroy an old one

LOL, we were talking about the time that the British invaded Eritrea, which was not at the height of the British Empire, it was during WWII.  Eritrea was colonized by Italy.

The original poster claimed that the reason they do not travel to the first country near them but instead travel to the UK is because the UK told the countries they invaded that Britain is the best place in the world.  You then claimed that back then it probably was.  But back then when Britain invaded Eritrea it was WWII.  You then tried to switch things to the height of the British Empire, which was not the time that we were  invading Eritrea and so was irrelevant.  I mentioned Italy as they were who was invading and colonizing Eritrea at the height of the British Empire, so if anyone it would have been them telling them how good other places were.
