5th TR needed, Pnom penh or Vientiane?

Featured Replies

Guys, i need a new tourist visa soon but what's currently the best hassle-free place to go to?

I got my last two visa's from Penang. On the second one they wrote "second visa already" in Thai. I fear to go a third time and be denied one.

The first visa is from Ho Chi Minh (May 18th 2016). The second one from Vientiane (november 30th 2016). The two from Penang are from 2017.

Inbetween i have entered Thailand visa-exempt 5 times. So in total 5 visa-exempt entries and 4 TR entries.

I usually stay in my homecountry approx. 10 weeks and then in Thailand 10 to 12 weeks, although the last visit to my homecountry was much shorter.

I'm thinking about applying in Pnom Penh or Vientiane for the second time. Ho chi minh is an option too.

Which of these places do not require financial proof like a bank statement? I'm NOT giving my bank statement, period. I have more than sufficient funds but asking for a whole statement is just too much private info. I can show cash ofcourse.

Thanks!

Vientiane would be a good choice. They don't ask for anything more than your passport and application form.

Thanks UbonJoe,

I'm going to get an elite visa after my next TR visa. I've read too many posts now of people being refused entry.

UbonJoe, one more question.

I've entered Thailand this time on a visa exemption, 30 days. Is it possible to extend this exemption? If so, how many days?

Is it advisable to do?

As its Sunday , U.J. has probably got his feet up, so, I can answer .

Yes, you can extend your V.E.S. for a further 30 days at any immigration office for 1900 Baht.

You can extend your 30 day visa exempt entry for 30 days at at immigration for a fee of 1900 baht.

I assume you are from one of the countries that get their entries under the standard visa exempt scheme and not from a bilateral agreement.

No problem to get the extension.

OP - out of interest did you go solo or use a visa service in Penang?

This only happens at airports, and only rarely even there.  If using land-borders (other than Poipet), TR Visas are always accepted, as long as you can show 20K Baht worth of cash, if asked.

You shouldn't really believe the scare mongers on here I have 5 TR visas for thailand in my passport and I have 4 Loas visa and I still got in yesterday ,the immigration office never even asked me any questions nor did I need to show him money or a ticket out of the country
