PATTAYA:--Village chiefs and rescue volunteers are among those being enlisted to help police solve the mystery surrounding remains of an unknown woman found in Najomtien.

Pol. Col. Solaf Eimsa-ard, chief of Najomtien Police, was ordered by bosses in Chonburi to put more investigators on the case to both identify the victim and determine how she died.

The partial remains were discovered in a forest off Jomtien Second Road in Moo 1 village. She had been dead about a month.

Forensics experts are combing the scene to gather more evidence. Bones and a pair of shoes were the only things found initially.

Meanwhile, volunteers and village chiefs will press residents for information, police said.

Thai police? Step up? There's no money in this investigation; minimal photo op, so no energy expended.
