webfact Posted February 6, 2018 Share Posted February 6, 2018 Teen strangled to death in Surat Thani detention centre By The Nation A teenager ended up strangled to death in a Surat Thani juvenile detention centre despite being moved to a separate section as rivals were brought in. Muang Surat Thani police summoned at 1.30am on Tuesday found the unnamed 17-year-old dead in his bed, several parts of his body showing signs of injury and a towel nearby, possibly used to strangle him. A doctor estimated he’d been dead for three or four hours. Officials said the boy had “established influence” in an older building at the facility, so when seven juveniles who’d had outside conflicts with him were lodged there on Monday morning, he’d been moved to a newer building to prevent a clash.
