That is truly tragic. I was a little dismayed to read she was subsequently arrested. This is quite clearly an accident, and I fail to see how possible criminal charges would be appropriate. RIP y

its similar to a parent leaving their child inside a parked car in the sun with windows closed. they don't intentionally mean to kill the child but they're "negligence" causes death.

countries with poor education, lower iq's, uncaring(nevermind) cultures tend to have higher % of negligence

So she drove to the driving test parking lot and then parked, meaning she did not have a driver license yet?

We can assume that, but we don't know why she was there. The usual excellent Thai reporting doesn't tell us.

Unless I am reading it wrong, why is she driving and parking the car when she is about to take her own driving test? Or was she already doing the test?

You are reading it wrong. Where does it say that she was there to take a test?

The headline...

And that was based on what? Certainly not the article. I'm a journalist who knows not to assume things. Can come a cropper very easily if you do that. I deal in facts. I'd say it was poor work by the TV headline writer, but we are not allowed to criticise them so I can't say that. I did once and got banned for five days. So perhaps he/she had information that was not in the article.

She should not have taken this test.

Least she tried to do the right thing and take test Most Thais dont even bother doing that to try and get their license

In the original article on sanook.com: แม่ไปสอบใบขับขี่ "Mother goes to make the driving test"

You are journalist and you learn to not assume things and deal with facts

All over the world journalist writing so meny fake news and not dealing with facts and just make up stories for sell their news

But that's just my opinion

I think most of the comments are insensitive. When are people going to realize that Thailand IS different to anywhere else.

what kind of test you suggest?

Sad, isn't it. It didn't used to be that way. But a lot of things aren't the way they used to be. Society is going backwards in so many ways. I am no longer proud of my profession.

This story would be funny if it were not so sad. I assume she

failed her test. RIP and condolences to the lady and family.

She's probably been driving for years and she had just driven to the test center, unaccompanied by a qualified driver.

Standard practice here , didn't you know that!

That's actually the only way that "makes sense". Maybe together with pushing the gas pedal instead of the clutch ;)

Why should she not be arrested? Because she "just" killed her own child while driving a car without a driving license? Obviously she should be prosecuted for negligent driving resulting in death and driving without driving license

If she had a driving licence while in the Test Centre, why would she need to take the test?  Clearly, while in the Test Centre, you do not need to have a licence.  When driving to the centre and when driving home afterwards, then you need a licence.

Very sad but my opinion Thai people can't drive and will probably never learn it

My goodness.    You are certainly poorly informed about laws worldwide.

To me it sounds like she was not in the "driving test area" but somewhere in the parking lot. So even under Thai law the correct way would probably have been that somebody with a driving license drives the car to the "driving test area" and their she gets on the drivers seat and drives around in this area. Everything outside of this specific area would be driving without a license.

What an insanity.. RIP girl
