hello

I usually always come to Thailand with a multiple non O.

this time Miami said they no longer issue the multiple, but only the single entry.

so here I am with a single entry non O, which has been marked upon entry to Thailand as "used".

can I still use that "used" extension shortly before my stay expires to convert it into a retirement visa?

the non O expires March 3rd 2018.

thanks

No you can not, but you can apply for an extension of stay based on retirement, which I think you actually mean but use the wrong wording.

You can apply for an extension of stay (it is not a visa) based upon retirement at any time now up to March 3rd.

You will need 800k baht in a Thai bank for 60 days on the date you apply or proof of 65k baht income by way of an income affidavit done at the US embassy or a combination of the 2 totaling 800k baht.
